Empowered by augmented reality (AR) technologies, the present disclosure allows a user to display virtual content in a physical reality and turn an AR-ready handheld mobile device into a dimension measuring tool. The present disclosure allows the user to first display a virtual container asset, with its actual size in physical reality, in any given configuration, and then create a virtual dimensional equivalent of an item-to-be-fit based on dimensional data captured by a 6-degree-of-freedom (6DoF) device or the like. Finally, the user can place the virtual item into the virtual container to evaluate the capacity and fit in the given configuration.

Methods and systems for evaluating the capacity of a container

Systems and methods for virtual showroom are described. The virtual showroom may allow a consumer to virtually visit a showroom and receive detailed vehicle information in a variety of manners. A consumer may use augmented reality to highlight a vehicle and receive information regarding it. A consumer may walk through a guided showroom tour or walk through an interactive showroom tour. Another user may be conferenced into the tour as well.

System and method for a virtual showroom

A method and system for selecting an instantiation point for a virtual asset relative to a physical space, the method including and system operable for: prompting a user to place a device at a desired position/alignment in the physical space; capturing the position/alignment with respect to a real world frame of reference; translating the position/alignment with respect to the real world frame of reference to a frame of reference in virtual space; and spawning the virtual asset in the virtual space at/with the translated position/alignment. The device includes one of a smartphone with a camera and a 6 degree-of-freedom controller.

Aligning the augmented reality or virtual reality world with the real world using natural position understanding

A method of and system for recreating a real world pose or aligning a real world object in a virtual space, the method including: prompting a user to successively place a device at a plurality of positions/alignments associated with a plurality of physical points associated with a body of the user, a body of another, or an object; capturing the plurality of positions/alignments with respect to a real world frame of reference; translating the plurality of positions/alignments with respect to the real world frame of reference to a frame of reference in virtual space; and recreating a pose of the body of the user, a pose of the body of the other, or an alignment of the object in the virtual space using the translated plurality of positions/alignments.
