Disclosed is an image processing apparatus in which an image receiver receives a plurality of captured images, where image-captured ranges partially overlap, from an image-capturing device and stores the plurality of captured images in an input buffer, a composite region setter sets a composite region such that a portion projected in the vicinity of a polar point of a celestial sphere panoramic image is wider than a portion projected in the vicinity of an equator of the celestial sphere panoramic image, in an overlapping image-captured range of at least two captured images, an image composer performs composite processing on overlapping images in the composite region, connects the plurality of captured images, generates the celestial sphere panoramic image, and stores the generated image to an output buffer, and an image transmitter transmits the celestial sphere panoramic image to a display device.

An image processing device for synthesizing a plurality of mutually adjacent and partially overlapping pieces of image data, includes a boundary portion selection unit which, from boundary portions of adjacent image data, selects the boundary portion for calculating an image correction value, a correction value calculator which calculates the image correction value of the boundary portion selected by the boundary portion selection unit, and an image correction unit which, in the boundary portion selected by the boundary portion selection unit, performs image correction of the boundary portion using the image correction value calculated by the correction value calculator, and which, in the boundary portion that has not been selected by the boundary portion selection unit, performs image correction using the image correction value calculated in the past.

Image processing device and image processing method

An image processing method is performed by a processor of an image processing apparatus which performs image processing of an input frame image. In the image processing method, a tonal histogram is generated, of which a gross area corresponds to a total number of pixels in the input frame image, and contrast is calculated from the tonal histogram. An input of a motion-detecting level with respect to the input frame image is received. A motion-detecting threshold corresponding to the motion-detecting level and the contrast is calculated. A composite image of the input frame image and a preceding frame image of the input frame image is generated based on a comparison result of a finite difference value between the input frame image and the preceding frame image, and the motion-detecting threshold.

Provided is an image processing device that removes noise caused by disturbance during image capture from a captured image by image processing, the image processing device includes an image input unit to which a plurality of temporally continuous captured images are input, an image feature extraction unit that extracts features related to the disturbance in the captured images, and an image sharpening unit that performs image processing based on the features related to the disturbance to thereby remove noise in the captured images. Further, the image processing device may further include mode switching means for switching between a monitoring mode for performing image processing based on the features related to the disturbance and a normal mode for preventing the image processing based on the features related to the disturbance from being performed.

An image processing apparatus is provided which performs image processing of an input frame image. Contrast analyzer generates a histogram of the input frame image and calculates contrast based on the histogram. Motion-detecting threshold setter calculates a lower-limit threshold and an upper-limit threshold of a motion-detecting threshold by using an input-operated motion-detecting level and the calculated contrast. Motion detector determines that an observation pixel is moving considerably in a case where a finite difference value between frames is greater than the upper-limit threshold, and sets composite ratio K such that compositing of a preceding frame image is not performed. In a case where the finite difference value is smaller than the lower-limit threshold, the observation pixel is determined to be stationary, and composite ratio K is set such that compositing of the preceding frame image is performed at the maximum ratio.

An image converter partially enlarges and reduces a panorama image. The image converter inputs a panorama image, enlarges/reduces the panorama image, such that an enlargement ratio changes continuously in a continuous area of the panorama image. In the image enlargement/reduction, the panorama image is enlarged and reduced such that a width, in the longitudinal direction of the panorama image, of the panorama image after the enlargement/reduction fits into the original panorama image.

An image signal processing apparatus and image signal processing method obtains a high super-resolution effect for distorted images captured by a specialized optical system, such as a 360-degree camera. A distortion-correction conversion-formula calculation section calculates a distortion correction conversion formula for correcting the nonlinear distortion. A distortion correction and interpolation processing section performs distortion correction and interpolation processing on each cropped region. An alignment conversion formula calculation section calculates an alignment conversion formula for alignment between each cropped image after distortion correction and interpolation processing is completed. A pixel coordinate conversion section rearranges pixel coordinates for each frame image before interpolation processing by using the distortion correction conversion formula and the alignment conversion formula corresponding to the cropped regions. An image synthesis section synthesizes the cropped images.
