A device carrier for an information handling system includes a latch, an interface, lights located on a front of the latch, and first and second light pipes. The latch holds the device carrier within the information handling system. The first light pipes are located within the latch, and provide light to the lights located on the front of the latch. The second light pipes are located within the interface and the latch, and provide the light to the first light pipes. The location of the second light pipes enables the same brightness of the light provided to the lights when a long device is inserted within the device carrier as compared to when a short device is inserted within the device carrier.

An information handling system includes a module configured to be installed into a server rack and a handle assembly. The handle assembly includes a main frame that is rigidly affixed to the module, a handle frame that is movably affixed to the main frame, and a handle that is rigidly affixed to the handle frame. The handle frame and the handle are movable with respect to the main frame between a first, upper position, and a second, lower position.

The front of a rack-mounted 2 RU (Rack Unit) chassis includes bays that receive replaceable components, such as storage drives. Two rear slots of such chassis each receive hot-swappable 1 RU servers that couple to a midplane of the chassis. When a server is removed from its slot while the server in the other slot remains operational, the airflow output of the operational server escapes via the empty slot rather than cooling the components in the front-facing bays. Embodiments provide a single-blade air damper that blocks airflow via an empty chassis slot. The single-blade air damper is connected to spring assemblies on both chassis sidewalls. The spring assemblies are maintained in unstable states when servers are installed in both slots of the chassis. Upon a server being removed from a slot, the spring assemblies transition to stable states that position the single-blade air damper to block airflow via the empty slot.

A chassis housing one or more Information Handling Systems (IHSs) includes a bay for coupling hardware components to the chassis, such as rear-facing bay that extends from the chassis midplane to an externally accessible opening. A first hardware component is fastened to a removeable carrier and the carrier is inserted in the bay, with the first hardware component coupling to the midplane. The carrier includes arms that extend to the externally accessible opening. Each arm includes a retractable handle that is used, when in an extended position, to extract the carrier from the bay. A second, removeable hardware component is inserted in the bay, with the second hardware components nested between the arms of the carrier. The carrier handles rotate to a concealed position when the second hardware component is nested in the carrier and the handles rotate to the extended position when the second hardware component is removed.

An adaptive airflow flapper assembly may be configured to when present in a first chassis bay adjacent to a second chassis bay unpopulated with a another information handling resource module, close to a closed position relative to the enclosure such that, due to non-overlap of the enclosure airflow openings relative to the flapper airflow openings, the adaptive airflow flapper assembly prevents airflow between the interior and the exterior of an enclosure, and when present in the first chassis bay adjacent to the second chassis bay populated with the second information handling resource module, open to an open position relative to the enclosure to allow airflow between the interior and the exterior of the enclosure.

A gear train side latching mechanism may include a bracket having one or more guiding features, a handle mechanically coupled to the bracket via the one or more guiding features such that the handle is linearly movable with respect to the bracket, a rack mechanically coupled to the handle comprising a first plurality of gear teeth and configured to move linearly relative to the bracket in a fixed relation to the handle, a driving gear rotatably coupled to the bracket and comprising a compound circular spur gear having a second plurality of gear teeth on an outer diameter of the driving gear and a third plurality of gear teeth on an inner diameter of the driving gear, wherein the second plurality of gear teeth are mechanically coupled to the first plurality of gear teeth, and an actuator gear rotatably coupled to the bracket and comprising a fourth plurality of gear teeth mechanically coupled to the third plurality of gear teeth and further comprising one or more features configured to engage with a corresponding engagement feature of a mechanical member. The gear train side latching mechanism may be arranged such that linear motion of the handle relative to the bracket transmits mechanical energy to the actuator gear via the rack and the driving gear to cause the actuator gear to mechanically interact with the engagement feature to transmit mechanical energy to the engagement feature.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a top cover arrangement for a storage and the corresponding storage. The storage comprises a drawer chassis which accommodates disks that are organized among a plurality of rows. The top cover arrangement covers the disks in a foldable manner and comprises: a substrate covering the disks and being flexible; and a plurality of folding parts mounted on the substrate and corresponding to the plurality of the rows; the folding parts being adapted to be at least partially folded to expose at least one row of disks in response to the disks being pulled out of the drawer chassis.

The front of a rack-mounted 2RU (Rack Unit) chassis includes bays that receive replaceable components, such as storage drives. Two rear slots of such chassis may each receive 1RU servers that couple to a chassis midplane via interposers. Administration of such 2RU chassis is simplified when a 1 RU server can be installed identically in the top or bottom chassis slot. Embodiments provide this capability while avoiding locating interposers along the center of the midplane. A lower guide routes a floating interposer of the server to lower midplane connectors as the server is inserted in the lower slot. An upper guide routes the floating interposer to upper midplane connectors as the server is inserted in the upper slot. The floating interposer moves up and down based vertical travel of guidewheels that protrude from the server and are routed by the guides as the server is inserted in a slot.

Embodiments include expansion cards that provide a specialized capability, such as networking, when coupled to an Information Handling System (IHS). The expansion card embodiments include a printed circuit board (PCB) of a first width and a heat sink located on a top surface of the PCB. The expansion cards also include pins located on a distal end of the PCB, where the pins are received by a connector of the IHS. Embodiments include a button operable for ejecting a latch of the expansion card from a stored position in response to pressing the button. When ejected, the latch remains within the first width of the PCB, thus supporting high-density configurations of expansion cards. The ejected latch is further operable for an administrator to easily pull the expansion card from the IHS. Expansion card embodiments may also include vents that provide pathways for ventilating heated air away from the heat sink.

The rod comprises: a first end provided with a bolt, the bolt having a trapezoidal thread, wherein when the rod is inserted into the rack through a target device, the bolt connects the first end to the rack such that the target device is secured to the rack.

The present disclosure relates to a chassis and a heat sink for use in the chassis. Disks in rows are arranged in the chassis, and the heat sink comprises an air ingress channel extending from a first end of a housing of the chassis to a side portion of the disks away from the first end; an air egress channel extending from the first end to a second end opposite to the first end, the air egress channel being spaced apart from the air ingress channel by the disks; an intermediate channel comprised of gaps between the disks and fluidically communicating the air ingress channel with the air egress channel; and a fan disposed in the air egress channel and being operable to form a negative pressure in the air egress channel.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a method for managing a storage device and a storage device, the storage device including a chassis and a hard disk assembly. The method comprises: receiving a signal indicating a position of the hard disk assembly relative to the chassis, the hard disk assembly being slidably coupled to the chassis, and the signal being generated by an electromechanical element disposed on the hard disk assembly; and controlling a rotating speed of a fan based at least in part on the signal, the fan being disposed in the chassis and configured to blow wind to the hard disk assembly.
