A context-aware network service engine is employed to support integrated network. In one aspect, the network service engine can receive a message associated with the user's intent and/or situation via a standard and/or open application programming interface (API). Based on an analysis of the message with context data and/or defined policy data, the network service engine can establish procedures to provide integrated services. The integrated services can comprise multiple communication services that are initiated simultaneously (or substantially simultaneously) in response to receiving the message. As an example, the context data can comprise user-related data, real-time network resource availability, presence data, and the like. As an example, the network services can be initiated concurrently and/or in a specified order.

Intent-based service engine for a 5G or other next generation mobile core network

Improving wireless service subscriber experiences by dynamically managing wireless communication resources using a big data analytic mechanism is presented herein. A method can include receiving, by a system comprising a processor via a software-based interface of a control plane of a communication network, service data corresponding to a request for a wireless communication service; receiving, by the system via the software-based interface of the control plane, contextual data corresponding to a subscription of the wireless communication service; receiving, by the system via the software-based interface of the control plane, network data corresponding to data packet transmissions of a network device within a data plane of the communication network; and configuring, by the system via the software-based interface of the control plane based on a defined set of policies, the service data, the contextual data, and the network data, a resource of the data plane corresponding to the wireless communication service.

Dynamic policy based software defined network mechanism

A programmable network architecture that employs a software based, modular functional infrastructure with standard interfaces is utilized for mobile core networks. In one aspect, network services and/or functions can be built and addressed as resources that are configured and/or accessed with standard and/or open application program interfaces (APIs). A network aware data driven Internet of things (IoT) service engine is presented herein. A method can comprise receiving a policy rule from a network device of respective network devices&#x2014;the policy rule corresponding to a sensor of a group of sensors that have been configured to transmit information of respective services to the respective network devices using an Internet protocol, and the policy rule defining an action to be performed by the system in response to a behavior of the sensor being determined to satisfy a defined condition specified by the policy rule with respect to a service of the respective services; based on the policy rule, monitoring the behavior of the sensor; and in response to determining that the behavior of the sensor satisfies the defined condition, performing the action on behalf of the network device.

A cache server disposed in a motor vehicle receives and caches content from a content distribution network when a load of a cellular link to the content distribution network is low. The cache server determines that the motor vehicle is turned off, broadcasts a wireless signal as part of a wireless network when the motor vehicle is turned off, and provides a device access to the content cached in the cache server via the wireless network.

A more efficient wireless network can utilize network elements, a service controller, and agents associated with the network elements. Each network element can publish state information and resource information so that other network elements and the service controller can readily identify which network element has available resources. Therefore, each network element can be a resource consumer and a resource provider. Additionally, the network elements can register with the service controller and/or allow agents to act on their behalf in order to generate a more efficient network.

An exemplary content engine includes a content gateway configured to analyze and route content requests to a content server. The content server can be a cache server or a mobile content server. The cache server can be configured to receive and store cacheable web content from a controller that is configured to receive the cacheable web content from at least one cacheable web content provider, such as a web server, and route the content to the cache server. The mobile content server can be configured to receive, from the controller, and store the digital media content. The controller can be further configured to receive the digital media content from at least one external content server and route the content to the mobile content server. A network core with a software defined networking ('SDN') controller is provided to control routing of traffic within the network and between the network and the traffic destination. The SDN controller is merged with existing 3Generation Partnership Project ('3GPP') network architecture to enable service deliveries via open application programming interfaces (&#x201c;APIs&#x201d;) and move the network core towards an all internet protocol (&#x201c;IP&#x201d;), cloud based, and software driven telecom network. The SDN controller can work with, or take the place of policy and charging rules function (&#x201c;PCRF&#x201d;) network elements, so that policies such as quality of service and traffic management and routing can be synchronized and managed end to end.
