A system for damping mass-induced vibrations in a machine having a long boom or elongate member, the movement of which causes mass-induced vibration in such boom or elongate member. The system comprises at least one motion sensor operable to measure movement of such boom or elongate member resulting from mass-induced vibration, and a processing unit operable to control a first control valve spool in a pressure control mode and a second control valve spool in a flow control mode in order to adjust the hydraulic fluid flow to the load holding chamber of an actuator attached to the boom or elongate member to dampen the mass-induced vibration. The system further comprises a control manifold fluidically interposed between the actuator and control valve spools that causes the first and second control valve spools to operate, respectively, in pressure and flow control modes.

A hydraulic mechanical transmission includes a first hydraulic unit having a first shaft and a second hydraulic unit having a second shaft. The system further comprises a control manifold fluidically interposed between the actuator and control valve spools that causes the first and second control valve spools to operate, respectively, in pressure and flow control modes.

System for damping mass-induced vibration in machines having hydraulically controlled booms or elongate members

The present disclosure describes a hybrid, wireless sensor network architecture for monitoring, operating, controlling, or maintaining a fluid delivery and distribution system. The architecture includes intelligent fittings locatable at almost any location within the system and that are configured with sensor modules to make measurements of characteristics of a fluid passing therethrough or of component parameters, and with wireless communication modules to wireless communicate the measurements. The intelligent fittings may be used, via strategic location, to convert unintelligent components of the system into intelligent components at a cost lower than that required to replace the unintelligent components with intelligent components. The intelligent fittings may also replace unintelligent fittings to provide supplemental data corresponding to fluid characteristics at desired locations of a fluid delivery and distribution system. The architecture further includes a digital twin of a hybrid, wireless sensor network that may downloaded to controllers for use.

Hybrid wireless sensor network architecture for fluid delivery and distribution systems

A system for compensating for drift or movement of a hydraulic actuator connected to a machine's boom or similar elongate member that is caused, at least in part, by damping of mass-induced vibration. The system comprises a processing unit and a plurality of sensors operable to collect data from a control valve connected to an actuator's load holding chamber and to calculate additional volume present therein due to vibration damping. Using the calculated additional volume, the processing unit determines a hydraulic fluid flow rate appropriate to substantially reduce or eliminate the additional volume. The processing unit combines this flow rate with the hydraulic fluid flow rate necessary to cause operation of the actuator in response to the machine's operator input, and provides signals to the control valve causing actuation of the valve to output hydraulic fluid to the actuator at a rate equal to the combined flow rates.

The present disclosure relates to fault detection, isolation and reconfiguration schemes, architectures and methods for use in electrohydraulic actuation systems for construction equipment. In one embodiment, a supervisory controller adapted to interface with a main controller of the construction vehicle is provided. A plurality of control nodes that interface with the supervisory controller are also disclosed, each of which includes pressure and position sensors. The nodes also include a first actuator control node for controlling operation of a first hydraulic actuator, a second actuator control node for controlling operation of a second hydraulic actuator, and a pump control node. The control system has an architecture in which faults are detected and isolated at the supervisory controller level and, where possible, within each of the control nodes at a sensor level, a component level, and a subsystem level.

A hydraulic drive system for driving a load includes a drive shaft; first and second hydraulic pumps driven by the drive shaft, and a control system that operates the hydraulic drive system in a plurality of modes including: a) a first mode where the second hydraulic pump pumps hydraulic fluid from a supply line to an accumulator; b) a second mode where the second hydraulic pump pumps hydraulic fluid from the accumulator to the supply line; c) a third mode where the second hydraulic pump pumps hydraulic fluid from the supply line to a reservoir; and d) a fourth mode where the second hydraulic pump pumps hydraulic fluid from the reservoir to the supply line. At least the second hydraulic pump is a variable displacement bidirectional pump.

Methods for controlling the net-displacement of a rotary fluid pressure device are disclosed. One of the net-displacement control methods () includes obtaining a desired input parameter () and a relative position () of a first member () and a second member () of a fluid displacement mechanism. A determination of a first and second output value is then made for each of a plurality of volume chambers () when the volume chambers () are supplied with fluid at fluid inlet and fluid outlet conditions, respectively. A total output value is then computed for each of a plurality of control valve configurations () and compared to the desired input parameter (). The control valve configuration () with the total output value most similar to the desired input parameter () is then selected. A plurality of control valves () are then actuated in accordance with the selected control valve configuration ().

Net-displacement control of fluid

A hydraulic circuit architecture for use in a drive circuit having a hydraulic pump for driving a load is disclosed. The hydraulic circuit architecture includes a flow control valve for controlling a hydraulic fluid flow rate supplied from the hydraulic pump to the load. The hydraulic circuit architecture also includes a hydraulic fluid accumulator arranged in parallel with respect to the flow control valve. Hydraulic circuit architectures having multiple accumulators arranged in parallel with respect to the flow control valve are also disclosed.
