In one or more embodiments, an information handling system may include: at least one processor; a memory medium, communicatively coupled to the at least one processor, that stores an operating system and at least one application executable by the at least one processor; a chassis; an information handling system card port communicatively coupled to the at least one processor; a support device fastened to the chassis; and an expansion card coupled to the information handling system card port and fastened to the support device. In one or more embodiments, the support device may include an opening that permits air to pass through. In one or more embodiments, the support device may include a cover configured to obscure airflow through the opening of the support device. For example, the cover may be configured to unroll to obscure airflow through the opening of the support device.

An information handling system includes a powered hardware processor and a memory device. The information handling system includes an ion emitter/collector blower cooling system including an ion emitter/collector blower having an ion emitter and an ion collector, the ion emitter/collector blower being operatively coupled to a fan and located between the fan and an exhaust vent formed in a top edge of the chassis of the information handling system. An ionic driving circuit is operatively coupled to the ion emitter via a high voltage to ionize gases at the ion emitter/collector blower to create charged ions that generate an airflow to and through the ion collector. The information handling system also includes an air intake vent located at the fan in the chassis so that the airflow is brought into the chassis via the fan, through the fan and ion emitter/collector blower, and out of the air exhaust vent.

Method and apparatus for a mobile information handling system with an ion drag blower integrated with a fan for enhanced convection airflow

Detecting failure of a fan of an IHS, including comparing a sound pressure level of an environment noise associated with an environment of the IHS with a threshold; determining, based on the comparing, that the sound pressure level of the environment noise is less than the threshold, and in response: increasing a magnitude of RPM of the fan to correspond to a sound pressure level of a fan noise greater than the sound pressure level of the environmental noise; analyzing a frequency spectrum of the fan noise; determining, based on the analyzing, whether the frequency spectrum of the fan noise includes discrete tones at one or more harmonic frequencies of the fan at the RPM; determining that the frequency spectrum of the fan noise includes discrete tones at one or more harmonic frequencies of the fan at the RPM, and perform an action that is in response to such determination.

An information handling system may include a processor and a program of instructions embodied in non-transitory computer-readable media, the program of instructions configured to, when read and executed by the processor: determine if an application-related event associated with an executable application has occurred; based on one or more performance profiles, wherein each of the one or more performance profiles are associated with a respective executable application, select an executing application having a highest rank as a selected application; and communicate a selected performance profile associated with the selected application to a management device of the information handling system to cause the management device to apply a temperature limit and an acoustic limit associated with the selected performance profile to the performance of the information handling system.

Systems and methods for estimating information handling system performance capacity based on temperature and acoustic parameters

An information handling system may include a processor and a program of instructions embodied in non-transitory computer-readable media, the program of instructions configured to, when read and executed by the processor: receive a touch temperature limit parameter indicative of a temperature limit; receive an acoustic noise limit parameter indicative of an acoustic noise limit; determine an estimated power capacity limit parameter indicative of an estimated power limit based on the touch temperature limit parameter and the acoustic noise limit parameter; and determine an estimated performance capability parameter based on the estimated power capacity limit parameter.

A fan apparatus for an information handling system, including a fan having a first side and a second side, the second side positioned opposite to the first side, the fan including: a shaft; a plurality of blades coupled to the shaft; and a rib coupled to one or more of the plurality of blades at the first side of the fan; a fan housing, including: an opening; and an emboss surrounding the opening; wherein the fan is coupled to the fan housing with the first side of the fan in superimposition with the opening of the fan housing such that the rib of the fan is positioned within the emboss of the fan housing.

A dual fan system includes a first fan that produces a first airflow, and a second fan that produces a second airflow. An air duct includes first and second nozzles, and first and second channels. The first channel directs the first airflow into an area between the first and second nozzles. The second channel directs the second airflow into the area between the first and second nozzles. While in the compute operating mode, commands from the processor are provided through the dock portion to the peripheral device.

In one or more embodiments, one or more systems comprise a heat exchanger comprising a first heat sink coupled to a first portion of a set of heat pipes, a first fan for generating a first airflow in a first direction through the first heat sink, a second heat sink coupled to a second portion of the set of heat pipes and a second fan for generating a second airflow in a second direction through the second heat sink, wherein the first heat sink is separated from the second heat sink by a gap with a distance configured to thermally isolate the first heat sink and the second heat sink and the first direction is opposite the second direction. The heat exchanger may be oriented such that the first fan and the second fan generate airflows perpendicular to a main airflow.
