Various methods and apparatus are disclosed for mitigating interference between communications between different radio access technologies in a communication device. Methods and apparatus include communicating between a first communication device and a second communication device according to a first communication protocol, and communicating between the first communication device and a third communication device according to a second communication protocol. The methods and apparatus further include determining a first time interval associated with when data is to be transmitted between the first communication device and the second communication device according to the first communications protocol. The methods and apparatus also include sending to the third communication device, an indication of a second time interval to prompt the third communication device not transmit to the first communication device during the second time interval, wherein the second time interval corresponds to the first time interval.

Method and system for mitigating interference between different radio access technologies utilized by a communication device

The present disclosure describes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications. A described system includes a first radio configured to wirelessly transmit to a first station in accordance with a first wireless communication technology via uplink periods that are scheduled by the first station; a second radio configured to wirelessly communicate with a second station in accordance with a second wireless communication technology; and a controller coupled with the first and second radios, the controller being configured to select for puncturing one or more of the uplink periods based on information about types of data to be transmitted respectively in the uplink periods, puncture, independently of the first station, the one or more selected uplink periods by causing the first radio to terminate transmissions to the first station during the selected uplink period(s), and cause the second radio to receive data from the second station during the selected uplink period(s).

Termination of wireless communication uplink periods to facilitate reception of other wireless communications

Systems and methods are provided for detecting a received synchronization signal. The method includes receiving, at a receiver, a signal from a transmitter and the signal includes the received synchronization signal. The method includes processing the received signal and a plurality of candidate synchronization signals to obtain a plurality of correlation signals. Each candidate synchronization signal is associated with one of the plurality of correlation signals. The method includes selecting, based at least in part on the plurality of correlation signals, one of the plurality of candidate synchronization signals. The selected candidate synchronization signal is correlated with the received synchronization signal. The method includes detecting the received synchronization signal based at least in part on (i) the received signal, and (ii) a characteristic obtained from the correlation signal that is associated with the selected candidate synchronization signal.

Systems and methods for detecting a primary synchronization signal in a wireless communication system

Systems, methods, apparatus, and techniques are provided for transmitting information to user equipment (UE) in a communications network. Data is generated in (i) a first frequency range associated with a first set of carriers and (ii) a second frequency range associated with a second set of carriers, where the first frequency range specifies a first communications cell and the second frequency range specifies a second communications cell. The first cell, is assigned as a primary cell to a first set of UEs in the communications network. Control data is transmitted to both the first set of UEs and a second set of UEs using at least a portion of the first set of carriers.

Cell deployment with different channel bandwidth for carrier aggregation

In a method of operating a device configured to communicate according to at least a first communication protocol and a second communication protocol, a time division multiplexing (TDM) pattern is obtained. The TDM pattern is defined for communication according to the first communication protocol is obtained. The TDM pattern defines communication periodicity that includes a scheduled period and an unscheduled period. A guard interval is reserved within the unscheduled period, and the unscheduled period is used for communication according to the second communication protocol. The guard interval is used to transition to an inactive state with respect to the second communication protocol.

In-device coexistence of multiple wireless communication technologies

The present disclosure describes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications by devices that employ more than one wireless communication technology. According to an aspect of the described systems and techniques, a device includes: a first radio configured to communicate wirelessly with a first station in accordance with a first wireless communication technology, a second radio configured to communicate wirelessly with a second station in accordance with a second wireless communication technology, a controller configured to (i) terminate scheduled portions of time for sending communications from the first radio to the first station in favor of receiving communications from the second station to the second radio and (ii) restrict which of all available scheduled portions of time for sending communications from the first radio to the first station are provided for termination based on information about types of data transmitted in respective ones of the available scheduled portions of time.

A communication device includes a first network interface configured to communicate in a first network according to a first communication protocol, and a second network interface configured to communicate in a second network according to a second communication protocol. The first communication protocol defines a periodically repeating frame. The communication device predicts one or more subframes in the frame in which a serving base station in the first network will not transmit to the communication device because of poor channel conditions using at least one of i) measured channel quality in the one or more subframes, and ii) instructions sent to the communication device regarding channel quality measurements that are to be reported. In response to predicting the one or more subframes, operation of the first network interface is suspended during those subframes, and operation of the second network interface is enabled during at least one of those subframes.

In-device coexistence of wireless communication technologies

In a method of operating a communication device that includes at least (i) a first network interface configured to operate according to a first communication protocol and (ii) a second network interface configured to operate according to a second communication protocol, the first communication interface is operated according to the first communication protocol. The first communication protocol defines a periodically repeating set of time intervals. One or more time intervals, from the set of time intervals, that meet a selection criteria are determined. The selection criteria is based on level of interference experienced by the first network interface. During the determined one or more time intervals, operation of the first network interface according to the first communication protocol is suspended, and operation of the second network interface according to the second communication protocol is enabled.

The present disclosure describes systems and techniques relating to wireless communications. According to an aspect of the described systems and techniques, an apparatus includes: circuitry configured to receive wireless communication transmissions having periodic synchronization signals transmitted at a fixed interval, wherein the periodic synchronization signals convey information used to establish communication between wireless communication devices; and circuitry configured to acquire the periodic synchronization signals of the wireless communication transmissions by, at least in part, (i) calculating objective function values for hypotheses of parameter sets for a current period, (ii) combining only a portion of the calculated objective function values with stored objective function value data from a prior period to form combined data used in signal acquisition, and (iii) storing the combined data or the portion of the calculated objective function values for use in a next period.

Acquisition of periodic synchronization signals

Systems and methods are provided for identifying whether a signal is an LTE signal. The method includes receiving, using control circuitry, a signal. The method includes computing a measurement of the received signal, determining a signal parameter corresponding to a system parameter specific to an LTE standard, and identifying whether the received signal is an LTE signal based on the determined signal parameter.

Systems and methods for LTE interference detection

Systems, methods, apparatus, and techniques are provided for transmitting information to user equipment (UE) in a communications network. Data is generated in (i) a first frequency range associated with a first set of carriers and (ii) a second frequency range associated with a second set of carriers, where the first frequency range specifies a first communications cell and the second frequency range specifies a second communications cell. The first power measuring module is configured to generate a first power measurement of a signal received by a receiver of a wireless device based on a plurality of reference signals received in the signal by the receiver of the wireless device. The first power measurement is generated during a first frame of the signal received by the receiver of the wireless device. The gain control module is configured to adjust a gain of the receiver of the wireless device based on the first power measurement. Method and apparatus for adjusting a gain of a receiver in a wireless device

Systems and methods are provided for detecting a received synchronization signal. The method includes receiving, at a receiver, a signal from a transmitter, where one or more portions of the received signal include the received synchronization signal. The method includes processing the one or more portions of the received signal to obtain a differential signal, and processing the differential signal and a plurality of candidate differential synchronization signals to obtain a plurality of cross-correlation signals. Each candidate differential synchronization signal is associated with one cross-correlation signal. The method includes selecting, based at least in part on the plurality of cross-correlation signals, one of the candidate differential synchronization signals, and detecting the received synchronization signal based at least in part on (i) the one or more portions of the received signal, and (ii) a frequency offset value obtained from the cross-correlation signal associated with the selected candidate differential synchronization signal.
