A method performed by a media source device that has several microphones, the method includes receiving an input audio signal, providing the input audio signal to a media playback device that is communicatively coupled to a speaker, receiving, from the microphones, microphone signals that include the ambient sounds within an ambient environment in which the media source device is located and at least one sound of the input audio signal produced by the speaker, producing, using a machine learning (ML) model that has input based on the microphone signals and the input audio signal, an echo reference microphone signal that includes the at least one sound produced by the speaker, and producing an echo cancelled output audio signal by performing echo cancellation upon each of the microphone signals using the input audio signal and the echo reference microphone signal as reference signals.

A device implementing a system for mitigating noise includes at least one processor configured to receive a first audio signal corresponding to a first microphone, and determine whether wind noise is present based at least in part on the first audio signal. The processor is configured to select, based on the determining, a second audio signal from between second and third microphones. The second microphone is disposed at a location that experiences less echo coupling when the device is in a particular orientation with respect to a user. The third microphone is disposed at another location that experiences less wind noise. The processor is configured to determine voice and noise reference values based on the first and the selected second audio signals, and perform noise suppression with respect to at least one of the first or the selected second audio signal, based on the voice or the noise reference value.

A method for network communication is provided. The method includes assigning a first network port identifier for return communication to a packet that originates on a node of the network device and determining whether the packet has a destination internal or external to the network device. The method includes translating the first network port identifier for return communication to a second network port identifier that is within a range of network port identifiers specific to the node, responsive to determining the packet has the external destination, and sending the packet from the node of the network device to the external destination, with the packet having the second network port identifier for return communication.

To address issues with present echo gate control, a method and apparatus for more intelligently operating an echo gate is described herein. In particular, the decision of whether to mute an uplink signal, or not, is formulated herein as primarily a perceptual decision based on an appropriate analysis of the perceptual interaction of the current residual echo and the current near-end signal(s). By doing so, the application of muting through an echo gate may be minimized and/or more appropriately engaged. This will lead to fewer dropouts and muting of speech onsets and offsets 1) during periods such as double-talk or 2) during periods of downlink playback in the presence of low near-end signal levels, two cases of particular importance.

Perceptual echo gate approach and design for improved echo control to support higher audio and conversational quality

A system and method is described for estimating residual echo and performing residual echo suppression on a signal. In particular, the system and method described herein: 1) provides a more accurate coherence-based approach where the sub-band nature of coherence-based residual echo estimation is leveraged using sub-band-based coherence measures and upper-bound envelopes to guide residual echo estimates; 2) provides joint estimation of the residual echo and a background stationary noise-floor; 3) provides more accurate residual echo estimation by combining the above two measures with information on near-end activity to selectively adjust the residual-echo estimation in sub-bands; and 4) provides improved control of near-end distortion by leveraging the noise-floor estimate and the internally calculated signal-to-echo ratios as additional guides/limits to help balance, flexibly, and as needed, near-end distortion with residual echo suppression. The resultant residual echo suppressor design provides significant improvement in both residual echo suppression and background noise preservation.

Method and apparatus for improved residual echo suppression and flexible tradeoffs in near-end distortion and echo reduction

The following embodiments relate to an analog filter having an adjustable transfer function for use in a system or circuit that processes a signal having a changing data rate. The transfer function may be adjusted by adjusting the resistance and/or capacitance of components of the analog filter. The analog filter is calibrated based on an optimum operational parameter at a certain data rate, such as a median data rate. The analog filter may be further adjusted as the data rate of the signal changes.

In one embodiment, a phase detector is provided comprising a first input, a second input, and first circuitry in communication with the first and second inputs, the first circuitry operative to provide an indication of a phase difference between a first signal supplied by the first input and a second signal supplied by the second input, wherein an aberration in one of the first and second signals results in an incorrect indication of phase difference. The phase detector also comprises second circuitry in communication with the first circuitry, the second circuitry operative to provide a correct indication of phase difference despite the aberration in the at least one of the first and second signals. In another embodiment, a differential phase detector is provided.

The presently claimed invention provides methods, compositions, and apparatus for studying nucleic acids. Specifically, the present invention provides a novel enrichment and labeling strategy for ribonucleic acids. In one embodiment, the invention provides enriching for a population of interest in a complex population by diminishing the presence of a target sequence. In a further embodiment, the invention can be used to reproducibly label and detect extremely small amounts of nucleic acids.
