The present invention relates to a system and method of HVAC (Heating, Ventilating, Air Conditioning) energy management system. More specially, the present invention provides a system and method that can provide automatic optimized control mechanism for HVAC system to save energy.

Smart building HVAC energy management system

A thinking system and method is provided by the present invention. In the present invention, the 'thinking' system is capable of accepting information from outside environment, analyzing the information, requesting additional information, and then resulting the problem. More particularly, the system can make new rules according to the information within the system and the new information received and requested. The rule making process is not controlled by outside command, but by an internal controlling mechanism that can be modified by the outside commands. Further, the system comprises a knowledge structure that can be used by the system for analyzing the inputted information, making request for additional information, making new rules, and solving problems, wherein the knowledge structure comprises element files include direct link information of the elements with other elements of the element files in the knowledge structure.

Thinking system and method

The present invention relates to a system and method for information process using artificially constructed apparatus. More specially, the present invention provides a system and method that can search for information in a document structure and provide precise results by analyzing the inputs and search results using the executing system and the knowledge structure of the think system. In one preferred embodiment of the present invention, the search terms are divided into subject terms and corresponding feature terms, and document entry files comprising respective subject terms and corresponding feature terms will provide access to documents including subject terms and corresponding feature terms.

Method and system of compressing and decompressing data

A method of determining noise in a CATV channel, wherein the CATV channel comprises a predetermined frequency band, that employs digital signal processing to isolate the noise signal from an in-service television signal. The method includes an initial step of obtaining a television signal corresponding to a predetermined CATV channel, the television channel comprising a carrier signal modulated by an information signal. Thereafter, the method includes the step of sampling at least a part of the television signal to produce a digital signal segment, said digital signal segment comprising a carrier component, a noise signals component, and an information signal component, wherein said information signal component has a substantially predetermined signal pattern. The method then employs digital signal processing to separate the carrier component from the digital signal segment to produce a baseband signal substantially comprising the information signal and the noise signal. Finally, an estimate of the information signal is obtained and then subtracted from the baseband signal, thereby producing a noise signal estimate.

Noise measurement system

A direct quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) modulator provides amplitude and phase pre-equalization to reduce complexity and cost. In-phase (I) and quadrature-phase (Q) QAM signal components are provided from an analog modulator. A radio-frequency (RF) driver provides a RF signal with the QAM components. A monitoring device monitors phase and amplitude errors in the RF signal, and provides a feedback signal to a digital complex phase and amplitude equalizer embedded in a digital Nyquist filter. The equalizer uses the feedback signal to provide a pre-equalizing signal to a digital-to-analog converter, which provides a corresponding analog equalizing signal. This signal is, in turn, low-pass filtered and fed back to the analog I/Q modulator to equalize the phase and amplitude of the I and Q components there. The invention is particularly suitable for generating 64/256-QAM signals in the 50 MHz-880 MHz range without an Intermediate Frequency (IF) stage and double-conversion, and may be used, e.g., for communicating digital television data via a cable network.

Direct QAM modulator with digital feedback control and complex pre-equalization for phase and amplitude distortion

The performance of a multiphase and/or multiple amplitude receiver, such as a 64/256 quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) receiver, is improved in the presence of single and multiple echoes. A moving window adaptive decision feedback equalizer (DFE) is provided according to the adaptive equation C (k&plus;1)&equals;C (k)&minus;&Dgr;&middot;W(k)&middot;E (k)&middot;X (k), where &Dgr; (delta) is the step size, C (k) is the tap value of tap n for the k symbol, E (k) is the error output at the symbol k, X (k) is the received signal for pre-cursor taps (FFE) and past decision output for post-cursor taps (DFE), and W(k) is the sliding window function at symbol k. In the adaptation process, some coefficients are fixed while other taps are being adapted. In particular, the adaptation is focused on a group of taps which correspond to received echoes. By only adjusting these taps, no interference or noise is introduced to the decision making device in the digital receiver and therefore, the effect of noise and echoes on the adaptation control is substantially reduced.

Method and apparatus for adaptive equalization in the presence of large multipath echoes

The efficient quadrature amplitude modulator of the present invention allows from 6 to 8 independent compressed channels to occupy a 6 MHz bandwidth while reducing processing power by 33 percent for 8 levels of modulation offered by 64-QAM and by 25 percent for 16 levels of modulation offered by 256-QAM. The modulator achieves this efficiency using an improved digital filter architecture combining the modulation and filtering with post filtering carrier combination. The QAM modulator presented is implemented with a reduction in the total number of binary parallel multipliers. To increase operational throughput, the speed of operation increases with the use of LUTs (look-up tables) storing precomputed filter weighting coefficients. The reduction in multipliers is also achieved by using post filtering carrier combination which similarly reduces the number of MAC operations performed during filtering. The invention can be construction either as a FPGA (field programmable gate array) or an ASIC (application specific integrated circuit).

Interference and/or nonlinear distortions are reduced in a signal communicated from a transmitter to a receiver. To reduce interference, the transmitter is momentarily disrupted, during which time the receiver analyzes interference on the communication path to determine the frequency of at least one peak thereof. Information is communicated from the receiver to the transmitter identifying the frequencies of the interference peaks. Based on this information, the transmitter pre-distorts the signal to accentuate the signal magnitude at the identified frequencies. The pre-distorted signal is then communicated to the receiver, where it is filtered to attenuate the signal magnitude at the identified frequencies. An adaptive scheme periodically determines the interference peak frequencies. For nonlinear distortion cancellation (e.g., CSO/CTB), there is no need to disrupt the transmitter since the frequencies of the distortion are already known. Pre-distortion at the transmitter and filtering at the receiver are performed at the known, fixed frequencies.

Method and apparatus for filtering interference and nonlinear distortions

Disclosed are method and apparatus which measure signal level of an RF signal. The measured RF signal includes a baseband signal modulated onto a first carrier signal having a first frequency and the baseband signal includes program information and control information. The method and apparatus digitize the RF signal which includes the baseband control information and determine a signal level measurement from the baseband control information in the digitized RF signal. Furthermore, method and apparatus are disclosed which determine from the digitized RF signal whether a tagging signal is present in the RF signal.

Method and apparatus for measuring a radio frequency signal having program information and control information

A digital FM signal generator allows the generation of a modulated FM signal for broadcasting without the need for an analog modulator. The signal generator includes a digital signal processor which receives left and right signals from left and right signal channels and interpolates the signals to create a composite base band signal. The composite base band signal is then used by a numerically controlled oscillator to modulate a digital carrier signal. The result is a digital modulated FM RF signal which is then converted to an analog signal for broadcasting.

Direct digital synthesis of FM signals

An RF circuit for use as a front end for a combined leakage signal detector and signal level monitor includes a shared frequency conversion stage utilized for both leakage signals and signal level monitoring ('SLM') signals. One embodiment of the present invention includes an RF circuit comprising a first RF input, a second RF input, a frequency conversion circuit and a coupling device. The first RF input is operable to receive first signals to be monitored, the first signals being in a first frequency range. The second RF input is operable to receive leakage signals to be detected, the leakage signals also being in a first frequency range. The frequency conversion circuit is operable to convert signals in the first frequency range to signals in a second frequency range, the frequency conversion circuit operable to receive unconverted first signals and unconverted leakage signals and produce output signals therefrom. The output signals produced by the frequency conversion stage have a frequency in the second frequency range. The coupling device alternately connects the first RF input to the frequency conversion circuit and the second RF input to the frequency conversion circuit. The output signal may then be provided to a suitable measurement circuit that performs leakage signal detection or signal level monitoring using known methods.
