Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some systems, a device may select antenna elements from a planar array to transmit or receive an orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam. The device may determine a first area (e.g., a first ring area) based on an angular direction over which the device can communicate an OAM beam with a second device and may determine a second area (e.g., a second ring area) on the planar array based on projecting the first area on the planar array. The device may select a set of antenna elements from the planar array that are located within the second area. The device may determine a complex-valued weight for each antenna element of the selected set of antenna elements and may transmit or receive an OAM beam to or from the second device via the set of antenna elements according to the angular direction.

Generating and steering orbital angular momentum beams

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. In some wireless communications systems, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to transmit data to a network device using an unencoded signal that includes parameters for updating a local data model. The UE may receive a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) to decode a resource allocation message that schedules uplink resources for the transmission of the parameters, where the RNTI may be a dedicated RNTI that is different from other RNTIs received by the UE. The UE may identify allocated resources as scheduled by the resource allocation message, and may apply analog modulation and pre-equalization parameters to a data block to form an unencoded uplink transmission that includes the model parameters. The UE may transmit the unencoded uplink message in accordance with an over-the-air computation procedure.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may adjust resources (e.g., time resources, frequency resources) used to transmit repetitions of uplink control information (UCI) over a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH). The UE may adjust two parameters corresponding to different scales (e.g., levels) of adjustment, where a first parameter corresponds to a number of repetitions of a PUCCH resource and a second parameter corresponds to a number of slots within each PUCCH repetition. The UE may adjust the resources based on the first parameter, the second parameter, a size of UCI, a maximum coding rate, or some combination thereof, such that the PUCCH resources carrying UCI satisfy the maximum code rate and UCI size.

Multi-level time-domain scalable uplink channel resources

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may identify multiple resource element (RE) segments associated with a scheduled communication that includes a source bit sequence, each RE segment including one or more REs in one or more scheduled physical resource blocks associated with the scheduled communication. The method receives a mapping between gradient Sum-Power levels and scaling factors for channel inversion coefficients to process a data block into an unencoded uplink signal. The method also determines a channel inversion coefficient based on a scaling factor obtained from the mapping and the calculated gradient Sum-Power level. The method applies analog modulation and the channel inversion coefficient to the data block to form the unencoded uplink signal.
