A piston ring with a hard plating and a preparation method therefor are provided. An OD surface of the piston ring includes an interlayer, a gradient metal nitride layer and a DLC repetitive unit layer sequentially from bottom to top; one DLC unit layer in the DLC repetitive unit layer sequentially includes a DLC layer and a metal-doped DLC layer; and chrome plating of a side face of the piston ring is a chrome plating on a side face of a piston ring matrix. The repetitively circulating DLC layers and metal-doped DLC layers are a combination of a micron-thickness layer and a nanometer-thickness layer to form a micro-nano layered structure, so that the binding force between each plating is enhanced and the internal stress of the plating is reduced; and meanwhile, metal doping in the DLC layer can effectively reduce the plating stress and solve the problem of plating peeling.

Piston ring with hard plating, and preparation method therefor

A wear-resistant and low-friction coated piston ring and a preparation method therefor are provided. The OD surface diamond-like carbon coating consists sequentially of a first metal interlayer, a second metal interlayer, a gradient DLC layer, alternating high/low hardness DLC layers, and an outer running-in DLC layer. The side surface diamond-like carbon coating consists sequentially of a metal interlayer, a gradient DLC layer, and alternating high/low hardness DLC layers. The preparation method employs physical vapor deposition to sequentially deposit composite DLC coatings on the OD surface and side surface of the piston ring. The coating is a tetrahedral amorphous carbon structure, exhibiting good thickness uniformity and fine grain structure. This improves the wear resistance of the piston ring's OD surface and side surface, reduces the aggressiveness of the piston ring side surface against the piston ring groove, and meanwhile avoids adhesion.

Wear-resistant and low-friction coated piston ring and preparation method therefor

Provided are a friction reduced and wear resistant coating, a preparation method thereof and a piston ring. The coating includes an adhesive layer, a transition layer, a gradient layer and a function layer in sequence. The gradient layer is a CrMoN layer in which Mo content progressively increases. The function layer includes at least one cyclical layer. Each cyclical layer includes a first CrMoN layer and a second CrMoN layer in sequence from bottom to top. The Mo content of the first CrMoN layer is lower than the Mo content of the second CrMoN layer. The coating provided by the present invention has a friction coefficient of 0.3 to 0.45, 10% to 30% lower than a CrN coating, and has an overall hardness of up to 1400 HV to 2600 HV and a thickness of 80 &#x3bc;m, satisfying the required durability for the full lifecycle of the piston ring. The preparation process of the coating is simple and highly operable, and thus is convenient for industrialization.

Friction reduced and wear resistant coating, preparation method thereof and piston ring

The present invention relates to a diamond-like coating for piston ring surfaces, comprising, an underlayer, a gradient layer and an AM layer, wherein the AM layer is a diamond-like coating doped with doping elements. The doping elements are one or a combination of at least two selected from the group consisting of Cr, Si and Ti, and the content thereof shows a cyclical change in a form of a sine wave fluctuation along with the thickness change of the AM layer. As compared with the conventional single-layer structure or gradient layer structure, the AM layer of such diamond-like coating has a multi-cycle transition structure since the content of the doping elements in the AM layer of such diamond-like coating shows a cyclical change in a sine wave fluctuation form. On the basis of having high wear-resistant and low friction coefficient, it is beneficial to decrease the internal stress of the coating, increase the tenacity of the coating, ensure the increase of the thickness of diamond-like coating, and improve the durability of piston ring of diamond-like coating at the same time.

Diamond-like coating for piston ring surfaces, piston ring and processes for preparing the same

The invention relates to a multilayer multi-element composite hard PVD coating with low friction coefficient on the surface of a piston ring, a piston ring and a preparation process. The present invention employs vacuum multi-arc ion plating vapor deposition process, which uses multiple multi-arc ion sources, in the combination of equipping with different single metal target material and multi-element target material to deposit multilayer multi-element composite hard PVD coating with low friction coefficient on the surface of a steel or cast iron piston ring. The coating consists of five layers with the total thickness of up to 60 &#x3bc;m. The coating has high adhesion with the surface of piston ring, high hardness, low friction coefficient and good abrasion resistance. By controlling the adding amount of additive elements Al, Mo, W, B, Si and Ti, the friction coefficient of the coating can be further reduced 5 to 20% compared with that of a single TiN or CrN deposited layer.
