Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for communicating with an ad hoc intelligent reflecting surface (IRS). A method that may be performed by a user equipment includes receiving signals from a network entity via an ad hoc IRS; configuring the IRS for communications between the UE and the network entity based at least in part on the received signals; and communicating with the network entity through the IRS.

The UE may determine that the TRS is available based at least in part on the TRS availability indication bitmap. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive system information associated with a set of neighboring cells included in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). The UE may be connected to or camped in a current cell included in the NTN. The current cell may be associated with a current platform. Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques for user equipment (UE) positioning using one or more intelligent reflecting surfaces (IRSs). A method that may be performed by a UE includes for each IRS of the one or more IRSs: identifying a first IRS reflection center, measuring a first impulse response from the IRS to obtain a first measured impulse response representation, determining a first impulse response for a first ray reflected from the first IRS reflection center of the IRS, estimating a first position of the UE based on, at least, the first IRS reflection centers for each of the one or more IRSs and the first impulse responses for each of the one or more IRSs, and estimating a second position of the UE in an iterative manner until one or more conditions are satisfied.

Techniques for intelligent reflecting surface (IRS) position determination in IRS aided positioning

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, downlink control information (DCI) that schedules a downlink transmission and one or more repetitions of the downlink transmission. The DCI may indicate a first uplink resource for a first feedback message indicating whether the UE receives the downlink transmission and the one or more repetitions. Based on receiving the DCI, the UE may select a second uplink resource for a second feedback message indicating feedback that the UE received the DCI, where the second uplink resource occurs prior to the first uplink resource in a time domain. The UE may transmit the second feedback message on the second uplink resource. The UE and the network node may be part of a non-terrestrial network and, in some examples, may apply a configuration indicated in the DCI based on the second feedback message.

Method to transmit feedback in non-terrestrial networks

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication at a user equipment (UE) are described. A UE may operate by asynchronously transmitting code division multiple access (CDMA) uplink signals to a network entity. The UE may transmit the CDMA signals via an uplink channel that may be shared with orthogonal frequency multiplexing (OFDM) signaling transmitted by one or more other UEs. The UE may indicate to the network entity a capability for communicating with CDMA waveforms and may use CDMA waveforms based on transmitting the indication. The UE may also receive one or more parameters associated with using the CDMA waveforms, and may use CDMA waveforms based on the one or more parameters. The uplink channel may be a random access channel (RACH) and may support RACH transmissions, or may be a data channel and support data transmissions.

This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for wireless communication via a non-terrestrial network (NTN). In one aspect, a method for wireless communication includes initiating, by a user equipment (UE), a registration process with a network entity of an NTN to access the NTN. The method also includes transmitting, by the UE to the network entity, UE capability information of the UE. The method further includes receiving, by the UE from the network entity, a handover command, the handover command comprising a handover time indicator associated with a target handover time for the UE to perform a handover operation from a first beam to a second beam. Handover mechanism for non-terrestrial network (NTN) system in 5G new radio (NR)

Techniques are described for supporting user equipment (UE) positioning in a non-terrestrial network (NTN). To allow calculating a position/location of a UE based on reference signal (RS) measurements to and from one satellite (or a terrestrial base station), a device may be configured to calculate a doppler measurement and a range measurement and report such measurements to be used by a location server to calculate a UE position. An example device may receive a first RS (with the first RS being one of a positioning reference signal (PRS) or a sounding reference signal (SRS)), receive a second RS associated with the first RS, calculate a doppler measurement based on one or both of the first RS or the second RS, and report the doppler measurement. The doppler measurement (such as a measured frequency offset) may be used by a location server to calculate a UE position on the earth surface.
