The present invention is directed to novel nucleotide and amino acid sequences of Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus ('PEDV'), including novel genotypes thereof, all of which are useful in the preparation of vaccines for treating and preventing diseases in swine and other animals. Vaccines provided according to the practice of the invention are effective against multiple swine PEDV genotypes and isolates. Diagnostic and therapeutic polyclonal and monoclonal antibodies are also a feature of the present invention, as are infectious clones useful in the propagation of the virus and in the preparation of vaccines. Particularly important aspects of the invention include polynucleotide constructs that replicate in tissue culture and in host swine. The invention also provides for novel full length PEDV genomes that can replicate efficiently in host animals and tissue culture.

Attenuated porcine sapelovirus strain and immunogenic compositions therefrom

Enantiomers of 1',6&#x2032;-isoneplanocin, including derivatives of the enantiomers of 1&#x2032;,6&#x2032;-isoneplanocin, are disclosed along with novel synthetic methods. In particular, a substituted cyclopentane epoxide is synthesized into the enantiomers of 1&#x2032;,6&#x2032;-isoneplanocin. Enantiomers of carbocyclic nucleoside analogs of 3-deazaneplanocin to provide D- and L-like 1&#x2032;,6&#x2032;-iso-3-deazaneplanocin are also disclosed. The small molecule chemotherapeutic compounds beneficially provide DNA and RNA antiviral activity, demonstrating activity towards, for example, human cytomegalovirus, measles, Ebola, norovirus, dengue, vaccinia and HBV. Compounds exhibiting reduced S-adenosylhomocysteine hydrolase inhibitory effects are disclosed and provide improved toxicity profiles in comparison to neplanocin. The invention provides improved prophylactic and/or therapeutic antiviral efficacy.

The invention provides for methods of inactivating virus in product feedstream in a manufacturing process of a therapeutic polypeptide using an environmentally compatible detergent. The environmentally compatible detergent does not adversely affect product quality while effectively inactivating virus in the feedstream.
