A method and system for use in an advanced wireless communication network is provided. The method comprises: providing, to a group of UEs, a resource multiplexing configuration defining resource multiplexing for cellular and non-cellular communication; and allocating resources to the group of UEs for cellular communication, according to the resource multiplexing configuration. Advantageously, the method enables collisions and interference between D2D and cellular transmissions to be reduced or avoided.

Method and system for configuring device-to-device communication

A device-to-device user equipment (D2D-UE) and a method for use by a device-to-device user equipment (D2D-UE) is provided. The method comprises: determining, according to a non-UE specific resource allocation configuration, a plurality of available channels within a resource pool; selecting a primary channel of the plurality of available channels for the transmission of data; determining one or more transmission (TX) opportunities and one or more reception (RX) opportunities associated with the selected primary channel, wherein the transmit opportunities comprise a transmit subframe and an associated transmit resource block which are allocated for data transmission, and the reception opportunities comprise a transmit subframe which is not allocated for data transmission; transmitting a scheduling assignment (SA) on a TX opportunity of the TX opportunities; and receiving, an SA of another D2D-UE on an RX opportunity of the RX opportunities.

Method and system for device-to-device communication

A control signalling method for use in advanced communication networks is proposed. The method provides for self-scheduling carrier aggregation, cross-carrier scheduling carrier aggregation, and hybrid-scheduling carrier aggregation for downlink data transmission on up to 32 concurrent downlink component carriers where the UE feedback on downlink data is transmitted on a single uplink component carrier.

Method for use in device-to-device communication, wireless communication system, and architecture

A method is disclosed for use in device-to-device (D2D) discovery in a wireless communication network. The network includes at least one base station and a plurality of D2D capable user equipments (D2D-UEs). The network also supports cellular communication and direct communication between D2D-UEs. The method includes transmitting D2D discovery system information (D2D-SIB) from the base station to D2D-UEs, wherein the D2D-SIB indicates frame(s)/subframe(s) for D2D-UEs to transmit D2D discovery request signal(s) and frame(s)/subframe(s) for D2D-UEs to transmit D2D discovery response signal(s). The method also includes transmitting one or more D2D discovery request signal(s) from one D2D-UE, and upon receipt of a said D2D discovery request signal by another D2D-UE, transmitting from said other D2D-UE one or more D2D discovery response signal(s). The D2D discovery request signal(s) and D2D discovery response signal(s) are transmitted on the frame(s)/subframe(s) indicated in the D2D-SIB.
