According to one embodiment, a liquid cooling leakage abatement system includes a systems manager having executable instructions for obtaining location information for each of a plurality of components of a computing cluster in which at least a portion of the components are cooled by a liquid cooling system via a liquid coolant. When the systems manager receives leakage information associated with a leak in the liquid cooling system used to cool a first component, it infers a second component that is affected by the leak, and generates an alert message indicating that the first and second components that are affected by the leak.

A scope-based access control system includes a systems manager that is executed to receive a request to perform an operation on one of multiple computing devices in which the request includes a session identifier associated with an established session of a user who issued the request. The systems manager forwards the request and the session identifier to a global authentication authority. The global authentication authority responds to the request by issuing a claim that specifies a computing device group that the session is authorized to access. The systems manager receives the claim specifying a computing device group from the global authentication authority. The systems manager then performs the operation based on whether the one computing device is included in the computing device group.

An information handling system includes a memory, a chassis management controller, and a management controller. The memory stores an update catalog and an update sequence catalog. The chassis management controller determines one or more components to update and provides an update request associated with the components. In response to the reception of the update request, the management controller retrieves the update catalog and the update sequence catalog from the memory and determines whether updates for all the components will be completed successfully. In response to the determination that the updates for all the components will be completed successfully, the management controller provides a list of updates for the chassis management controller to install in the information handling system. Otherwise, the management controller provides a user of the information handling system with a set of pre-requisite component versions to include within the update request.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide a system and method for providing a virtual media gateway in which an Information Handling Systems (IHSs) configured on a private network may be managed using a systems management console. One embodiment of the virtual media gateway system includes a systems manager in communication with multiple server IHSs configured in a data center. The systems manager includes executable code to establish a first login session with a public network configured in the data center, and using the first login session, receive a request to communicate with one of the computing devices. The executable code is further executable to authenticate the systems manager with the one server IHS on behalf of the end-user to establish a second login session through a private network, and generate a console for providing user interaction with the one computing device via the second login session.

System and method for providing a virtual media gateway using a systems management console

In general, in one aspect, the invention relates to a method for managing nodes in a cluster. The method includes obtaining metadata from controllers on a node, processing the metadata to obtain solution groups and a processing sequence of the solution groups, notifying a solution manager to initiate performance of pre-update tasks associated with the node, and performing, after the notifying, an update of the nodes in the cluster based on the processing sequence of the solution groups.

Embodiments provide secure discovery of a first IHS operating within a plurality of IHSs (Information Handling Systems), such as within a data center, by a remote management tool. The remote management tool is registered with a DNS (Domain Name System). Upon initializing a first IHS, that first IHS is not automatically recognized by the remote management tool. A remote access controller of the first IHS retrieves information from the registration of the remote management tool from the DNS. The remote access controller notifies the remote management tool of the initialized first IHS. The notification is transmitted, by the remote access controller, to a network address specified in the DNS registration information of the remote management tool. The remote management tool confirms the authenticity of the notification provided by the remote access controller and configures the first IHS for remote management.

Secure node-initiated discovery

Administration of IHSs (Information Handling Systems) within a data center results gradual drift of the configuration parameters of the individual IHSs such that the IHSs may no longer be in compliance with data center policies, such as policies in support of security and disaster recovery procedures. Embodiments provide techniques for distributed determination of drift within a network of managed IHSs, in which each managed IHS is provided with baselines for the configuration parameters utilized by each managed IHS. Using the provided baselines, each managed IHS identifies discrepancies between its current configuration and the applicable baselines. Based on discrepancies reported by the managed IHSs, a management console evaluates drift within the network of managed IHSs and determines when to trigger remediation procedures in order to correct the drift.

In accordance with embodiments of the present disclosure, an information handling system may include a processor, a power supply unit for supplying electrical energy to information handling resources of the information handling system, a battery backup unit for supplying electrical energy to the information handling resources responsive to a power event associated with the power supply unit, and a non-transitory computer-readable readable medium having embodied thereon a program of instructions configured to, when executed, in response to the power event, gracefully terminate one or more applications executing on the processor in accordance with a desired priority ranking.

Embodiments provide for supporting management of an unrecognized device operating as a component of an IHS (Information Handling System). An unrecognized device operating on the IHS is detected. The unrecognized device is probes for determining properties of the unrecognized device. The unrecognized device is monitored for characteristic communications that are indicative of a type of device. A signature of the unrecognized device is generated based on the probed properties and the monitored communications of the unrecognized. Based on the generated signature, a device pack is created that supports management of the unrecognized device. A device pack may include instructions used by a remote access controller of the IHS for management of the unrecognized device. The created device pack may be generated based on monitoring keys supported by firmware of the unrecognized device. The remote access controller may probe and monitor the unrecognized device.

Dynamic device detection and enhanced device management

Within a data center, network interfaces may vary greatly. Network controllers from various manufacturers may support different capabilities and may be implemented as different types of hardware devices. Embodiments provide techniques for adaptive configuration of a network interface that is migrated from a source IHS to a target IHS. A network migration tool evaluates discrepancies between the source network interface configuration and the target network interface configuration. Based on the identified discrepancies, the network migration tool determines whether the target network interface may be adapted to be compatible, or at least not incompatible, with the source network interface. Multiple IHSs may be evaluated as potential targets for migration to identify a target IHS that utilizes a target network interface that most closely aligns with the configuration of the source network interface, where this alignment includes adaptive modifications of the target network interface.

Adaptive network interface configuration

A server rack may include a chassis controller for the server rack and a set of baseboard management controllers (BMCs) corresponding to servers stored in the server rack. Each BMC is communicatively connected to the chassis controller internal to the server rack. Each BMC is also communicatively connected to a network switch located external to the server rack to communicate with the set of BMCs using the network switch. When a first BMC loses communication with the chassis controller internal to the server rack, the first BMC communicates with the chassis controller via a second BMC and the network switch.

System and method for providing a redundant communication path between a server rack controller and one or more server controllers

An information handling system (IHS) includes controller that performs a method of automating acquisition of link local Internet Protocol (IP) network address of servers. Controller acts as Group manager server (GMS) that maintains an inventory of a respective link local Internet Protocol (IP) network address and public key of each server that is addressable over a local area network (LAN). GMS receives an IP network address and credentials associated with a management console that are used to obtain a public key from the management console. GMS transmits to the management console a GMS IP network address and public key associated with the GMS. GMS encrypts the inventory with the public key of the management console to generate an encrypted inventory. GMS transmits the IP network address and the public key of the management console to each server. GMS forwards the encrypted inventory to the management console to enable secure communication.

A system management controller may include a thermal table, a host agent, and a thermal control system. The thermal table may comprise identifying parameters for supported remote temperature sensors external to an information handling system. The host agent may be configured to receive temperature sensor data of a remote temperature sensor. The thermal control system may be configured to provide thermal control of at least one of the information handling system and a chassis in which it is disposed by determining, based on an entry of the thermal table associated with the remote temperature sensor, a local input identifier of the system management controller that defines a virtual thermal input of the information handling system associated with the remote temperature sensor, and controlling thermal properties of at least one of the information handling system and the chassis based on the virtual thermal input and a temperature value associated therewith.

A configuration end state sent through the management network, such as an XML file, is parsed by a management processor to automatically initiate and complete configuration of the server to the end state without further commands through the management network.

A method and an information handling system (IHS) provide hierarchical failure recovery for firmware components of the information handling system. According to one aspect, a hierarchical recovery and learning module (HRLM) detects firmware component failure. The HRLM initiates a hierarchical failure recovery by executing recovery sequences from a set of hierarchically ordered recovery sequences. The HRLM determines whether the detected failure was corrected by executing the recovery sequence. If the HRLM further determines that the failure is not corrected by executing the set of hierarchically ordered recovery sequences, the HRLM dynamically generates a new recovery sequence(s) using commands selected from at least one of the previously executed recovery sequences and executes the new recovery sequence(s). If the failure is corrected by a new recovery sequence, the HRLM forwards the particular recovery sequence to a customer support site for use by other systems in addressing similar or identical failures.
