A networked device connection system includes a network management system, a first networked device including a first networked device connector, and a second networked device including a second networked device connector. The first networked device connects to a network connection member through the first networked device connector and, in response, retrieves a network connection member identifier that it provides, along with a first networked device connector identifier, to the network management system. The network management system uses the network connection member identifier and the first networked device connector identifier to determine that the network connection member should be connected to the second networked device connector and, in response, sends an instruction to the second networked device that activates a second networked device connector indicator that is associated with the second networked device connector prior to connection of the network connection member to the second networked device connector.

A control plane redundancy system includes a control system that is configured to provide a plurality of control plane functionalities to a network, a primary networking device that is configured to establish a first communication connection with the control system, and a secondary networking device that is configured to establish a second communication connection with the primary networking device and a third communication connection with the control system. The primary networking device can transmit to the control system a secondary networking device identifier that identifies the secondary networking device as a redundant networking device for the primary networking device when the first communication connection is unavailable. The secondary networking device can determine that the primary networking device is still active when the first communication connection is unavailable and, in response, establish a proxy communication connection between the primary networking device and the control system.

Control plane redundancy system

Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods for detecting and correcting mismatches between a flow's size and the path maximum transmission unit (PMTU) size. In embodiments, a controller is notified of a new flow's size and compares that to the route path's MTU size. If the controller recognizes a mismatch, it informs an information handling device, such as the first-hop router, to notify the sender of the correct path MTU size&#x2014;thereby effectively and efficiency notifying the sender to correct the MTU size for that flow.

Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods for preventing or reducing traffic losses of data. If an information handling system, such as a switch or router, in a network attempts to install route information in the data store of the information handling system and has a failure or a potential failure, the information handling system may take one of several options or combinations thereof. In embodiments, the information handling system may not advertise the route information. In embodiments, the information handling system may send a route withdrawal message to one or more peer information handling systems to remove that system from routing determinations involving the route information. Alternatively, the information handling system may advertise the route prefix with a high metric to indicate that the system is a non-preferred forwarder for data intended for a destination associated with the route information.

Preventing or reducing traffic losses

Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods for identifying a primary flow and its corresponding subflow(s) so that the subflow(s) may be routed to more efficiently use bandwidth between a source host and a destination host. In embodiments, a table correlates flows and their corresponding keys for Multipath TCP flows. When a new subflow is initiated between a source device and a destination device, the new flow can be identified as being a subflow of a primary flow using data in the table. Having identified the subflow and its corresponding primary flow, the new subflow may have an installed route path that differs from its primary flow, thereby improving the bandwidth usage.

A power provisioning system includes power sourcing equipment having a plurality of ports. The power source equipment is configured to provide power to each of the plurality of the ports. A plurality of powered devices are each coupled to at least one of the plurality of ports. A controller is coupled to the power sourcing equipment through a network. The controller receives event information, determines that the event information corresponds to a first powered device of the plurality of powered devices and, in response, instructs the power sourcing equipment to provide power to the first powered device through the at least one of the plurality of ports that are coupled to the first powered device. In different embodiments, the event information may include an identification or authorization of a user, a determination that a scheduled area use is occurring, or the receiving of an emergency alert.

Event-based power provisioning system

Embodiments of the present invention include systems and methods for improving the exchange of routing information between information handling system by using compression. In embodiments, route information may be packetized as normally performed according to protocol. In embodiments, these packets may be compressed and placed into the data/payload portion of a new format packet. In embodiments, the new format packet includes an extended header with one or more fields that provide information related to the compressed packets in the packet payload. A receiving device receives the new packets with compressed data, decompresses the data, and processes the decompress data packets as per the normal protocol procedures.
