Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may generate a buffer status report (BSR) in response to a data radio bearer (DRB) for a secondary cell group (SCG) being a split DRB, the SCG being deactivated, and a buffer size satisfying a threshold for transmitting the BSR to activate the SCG. The UE may transmit the BSR. The UE may communicate on the SCG after activation of the SCG. Numerous other aspects are described.

Buffer threshold for secondary cell group activation

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for a user equipment (UE) entering a dormant state with respect to a secondary cell group (SCG) of a node network (SN) having a primary serving cell (PSCell). In one aspect, the UE may maintain a parameter set for at least the PSCell while the UE is in the dormant state with respect to the SCG. For example, the UE may receive a parameter change message from either the SN or a master network (MN) and transmit a parameter change acknowledgment to either the SN or the MN. The parameter change message may be transmitted as one or both of a downlink control information (DCI) or media access control (MAC) control element (CE). The UE may transmit physical layer measurements to the SN based on the parameter set.

User equipment (UE) physical layer measurement reporting in secondary cell group (SCG) dormancy

In an aspect, a UE receives, while a secondary cell group (SCG) is associated with a dormant state, at least one downlink transmit beam associated with at least one cell of the SCG. The UE determines, while the SCG is associated with the dormant state, an uplink transmit beam for a primary secondary cell (PSCell) of the SCG based on one or more of a spatial relation indication (SRI), whether there is beam correspondence between the at least one downlink transmit beam and the uplink transmit beam, a default uplink transmit beam, or a combination thereof. The UE transmits a signal related to a measurement between the UE and the one or more SCells of the SCG on the determined uplink transmit beam.

Beam management for a secondary cell group in a dormant state

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for management of conditional handover (CHO) configurations. A source base station may configure a user equipment (UE) with one or more CHO configurations for multiple target base stations. The CHO configurations may provide, for each target base station, one or more associated conditions that may trigger the UE to initiate a handover to the particular target base station, or to deconfigure a CHO configuration, such as based on a measurement threshold of one or more target base station measurements, one or more source base station measurements, or combinations thereof. The CHO configurations may also include failure handling information for initiating one or more subsequent handovers responsive to a failure of an initial handover attempt.

Configuration of a reference signal for secondary cell activation

A user equipment (UE) in a wireless communications system may perform measurements of a network while in an idle or an inactive state. The UE may receive, from a base station, an idle mode measurement configuration and a logged measurement configuration for performing measurements while the UE is in the idle state or the inactive state. The UE may determine, from the idle mode measurement configuration, that the measurements are to also be used for minimization of drive test (MDT) reporting. The UE may generate an MDT report based on the idle mode measurement configuration and the logged measurement configuration. The UE may transmit, to the base station, the MDT report based on the idle mode measurement configuration.

Techniques for performing layer 1/layer 2 mobility based on multiple secondary cell group configurations

The method includes a user equipment (UE) receiving signaling from a network entity that indicates a set of multiple node configurations for a set of multiple target nodes, receiving a command from the network entity to perform a node update procedure associated with the set of multiple node configurations, performing the node update procedure based on receiving the command, maintaining at least one of the set of multiple node configurations after performing the node update procedure, and communicating based on results of the node update procedure.

Maintaining configurations in conditional primary secondary cell group change

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described, in which temporary reference signals may be configured for use in secondary cell (SCell) activation. A user equipment (UE) may perform wireless communications with a first serving cell supported by a base station, and may receive an indication that a SCell is to be activated. As a result of activation of the SCell, the UE may perform one or more measurements on a reference signal of the SCell that is being activated. The one or more measurements may be performed on a temporary reference signal of the SCell that has one or more parameters that are indicated to the UE with the SCell activation information. The one or more parameter may be indicated by downlink control information (DCI), one or more medium access control (MAC) control elements, implicit signaling, or any combinations thereof.

Reference signal configuration for secondary cell activation

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive a measurement configuration including trigger conditions for performance of handover procedures within a service-based wireless system. The UE may transmit a message indicating a satisfaction of a trigger condition to a source network entity, a mobility service offered by a service-based network, or both. After performance of a handover decision by the source network entity, the mobility service, or both, the mobility service may select a target network entity for the handover procedure. The mobility service may select a target network entity that supports at least one active core network service at the UE. The UE may then receive a handover command from the mobility service, and may perform a handover procedure to the target network entity.

Techniques for connected state mobility in a service-based wireless system

This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for early measurement associated with configuring with multiple secondary nodes (SNs). In one aspect, the configuration of multiple SNs may be improved by allowing a master node (MN) to determine a multi-SN configuration based at least in part on measurements of actual channel conditions as seen by the UE. Enabling the MN to receive the measurement information early during a process associated with establishing a connection between the UE and the MN may thereby improve efficiency and reduce latency associated with the configuration of multiple SNs.

A method of wireless communication for a user equipment (UE) includes entering a dormancy period for a secondary cell group (SCG) of a base station (BS) during which no downlink (DL) data or control transmissions are received from the SCG; performing a channel state information (CSI) measurement on the SCG during the dormancy period to generate a measurement report; determining an uplink (UL) beam of a primary secondary cell (PSCELL) of the SCG; transmitting the measurement report to the BS on the UL beam of the SCG; and determining, during the dormancy period and after transmitting the measurement report, one or more downlink (DL) beams for communicating on the SCG based on one or more rules and based on the measurement report, wherein the one or more rules result in the BS determining the same one or more DL beams based on the measurement report.

In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may perform radio link monitoring (RLM) reference signal measurements on a primary secondary cell (PSCell) while the UE is operating in a secondary cell group (SCG) deactivated state. The UE may perform beam failure detection (BFD) reference signal measurements while the UE is operating in the SCG deactivated state. The UE may transmit, to a master node associated with a master cell group (MCG), an SCG failure information message based at least in part on one of: a PSCell radio link failure (RLF) detection based at least in part on the RLM reference signal measurements, or a BFD based at least in part on the BFD reference signal measurements.
