An elastomeric compressor mount has a hollow convex cylindrical head portion which must be passed upwardly through a substantially smaller diameter circular opening in a support foot portion of the compressor. To facilitate the passage of the mount head portion through the support foot opening a specially designed clamping tool is provided which has an arcuate support portion and a clamping portion that may be pivoted toward and away from a concave side surface of the support portion. With these two tool portions pivoted toward each other they are inserted downwardly through the compressor foot opening, opened, and then clamped exteriorly onto the mount head portion in a manner deforming it to a generally U-shaped configuration as viewed along the axis of the mount. The deformed mount head portion, and the still clamped together tool portions are then pulled upwardly through the compressor foot opening, the free ends of the deformed, generally U-shaped mount head portion being pushed toward one another by side edge portions of the foot opening as the head portion passes upwardly through the opening. After the deformed mount head portion is positioned above the top side of the compressor foot, the tool is released to permit the mount head portion to spring back to its original annular configuration and overlie an annular top side surface portion of the compressor foot.

An elastomeric compressor mount has a hollow convex cylindrical head portion which is passed upwardly through a corresponding opening in a support foot portion of the compressor to place an annular portion of the foot in an annular mount groove which is disposed between its head portion and a larger cylindrical base portion of the mount. When a securement bolt is passed axially through a fastening opening in the mount and tightened into an underlying base pan opening, the convex mount head portion is downwardly and radially outwardly deformed to cause the annular foot portion to be resiliently squeezed between the head portion and the underlying base portion of the mount. In a second embodiment of the mount its convex cylindrical head portion is of a solid configuration, and is joined to the mount base portion by an annular flange section coaxially disposed therein. When the securement bolt is tightened the head portion is pushed downwardly relative to the mount body portion in a manner axially flexing the flange section and squeezing the annular compressor foot portion between the head and base sections of the mount. In a third embodiment of the mount its head section is cylindrical and has a depending, reduced diameter stem section which is telescoped within the underlying mount base section to permit relative axial movement between the head and base sections of the mount when the securement bolt is tightened.

A check valve connectable in a refrigerant line is economically fabricated from only three parts--(1) a copper tubing body connectable in the refrigerant line, (2) a nonmetallic shutoff ball, and (3) an annular valve seat member having a conically tapered seating surface on one of its ends. The seat member is coaxially received within a first end of a longitudinally central portion of the tubing positioned between spun-down opposite end portions thereof, with the seating surface end of the seat member facing the second end of the central tubing portion, and the ball being received in the central tubing portion for axial movement into and out of sealing engagement with the seating surface. Three circumferentially spaced, axially elongated side wall indentations are formed in the central tubing portion. The indentations have (1) first end portions which, with the first end of the central tubing portion, axially locks the seat member within the central tubing portion, (2) second end portions that combinatively form an axial stop for the ball, and (3) main body portions that combinatively form within the central tubing portion a track structure that axially guides the ball between its closed position against the seating surface and its open position against the axial stop. When the ball is in its open position against the axial stop, refrigerant flows through the interior of the valve seating member and then around the ball via circumferentially spaced, axially extending fluid bypass passages positioned between the tubing side wall indentations.

A check valve connectable in a refrigerant line is economically fabricated from only four parts--(1) a copper tubing body connectable in the refrigerant line, (2) a nonmetallic shutoff ball, (3) an annular valve seat member having a diametrically opposite pair of leg portions axially projecting from one end thereof, and (4) an annular stop member also having a diametrically opposite pair of leg portions axially projecting from one end thereof, and further having a diametrically opposite pair of axially extending outer side surface grooves formed therein. The seat and stop members are locked together to form a cage structure by axially press-fitting the valve seat member outer leg ends into the stop member grooves in a manner such that the stop member legs underlie and support the seat member legs, with outer ends of the stop member legs facing a conical seating surface of the seat member in an axially spaced relationship therewith. The shutoff ball is captively retained laterally between the seat member legs for axial movement within the cage structure between an open position in which the ball seals against the seating surface, and an open position in which the ball is axially moved away from the seating surface and is stopped by the outer ends of the stop member legs. The cage is coaxially and captively retained in a longitudinally central portion of the copper tubing body between two elongated, spun-down, reduced diameter end portions thereof that may be soldered into a refrigerant line.
