In a method to degrade filtercake in a hydrocarbon reservoir using downhole in-situ heat generation, a filtercake breaker, configured to degrade filtercake at a temperature, is mixed with a drilling fluid. The drilling fluid mixed with the filtercake breaker is flowed through a hydrocarbon reservoir in which a wellbore is being drilled. A filtercake forms in a portion of the hydrocarbon reservoir responsive to flowing the drilling fluid. A temperature of the portion of the hydrocarbon reservoir is less than the temperature at which the filtercake breaker is configured to degrade filtercake. Multiple filtercake chemicals are flowed to the portion of the hydrocarbon reservoir. The multiple filtercake chemicals, when mixed, are configured to react in an exothermic reaction to release heat to increase the temperature of the portion of the hydrocarbon reservoir to at least the temperature at which the filtercake breaker is configured to degrade filtercake.

Downhole in-situ heat generation to remove filtercake

Various embodiments disclosed relate to methods, compositions, and systems for enhanced oil recovery including a viscosifier polymer. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of enhanced oil recovery that can include obtaining or providing a composition that includes a viscosifier polymer. The viscosifier polymer includes an ethylene repeating unit including a &#x2014;C(O)NHgroup and an ethylene repeating unit including an &#x2014;S(O)ORgroup, where the repeating units are in block, alternate, or random configuration. At each occurrence Rcan be independently selected from the group consisting of &#x2014;H and a counterion. The method can include placing the composition in a subterranean formation downhole via an injection wellbore. The method can also include extracting material comprising petroleum from the subterranean formation downhole via a production wellbore.

Viscosifier for enhanced oil recovery

Various embodiments disclosed related to methods, compositions, and systems for treatment of a subterranean formation. In various embodiments, the present invention provides a method of treating a subterranean formation. The method can include obtaining or providing a composition including a crosslinkable viscosifier polymer. The crosslinkable viscosifier polymer can include an ethylene repeating unit including a &#x2014;C(O)NHgroup and an ethylene repeating unit including an &#x2014;S(O)ORgroup, wherein the repeating units are in block, alternate, or random configuration. At each occurrence Rcan be independently selected from the group consisting of &#x2014;H and a counterion. The composition can also include at least one crosslinker. The method also includes placing the composition in a subterranean formation downhole.

Temperature-triggered viscosifier for treatment of a subterranean formation

Methods including providing a treatment fluid comprising: a gas; and a volatile surfactant dispersed in the gas, wherein the volatile surfactant has a normal boiling point of less than 260&#xb0; C. without substantial thermal decomposition and a dynamic surface tension of less than about 40 dynes/cm for a 0.1% solution; and intermittently introducing the treatment fluid and an aqueous fluid into a treatment zone in a subterranean formation.

Volatile surfactant treatment for use in subterranean formation operations

A method of treating a treatment zone of a well, the method comprising: (A) forming a treatment fluid comprising: (i) a continuous gas phase comprising a gas; and (ii) a surfactant, wherein the surfactant has the following characteristics: (a) a normal boiling point less than 500&#xb0; F. (260&#xb0; C.) without significant thermal decomposition; and (b) providing a dynamic surface tension of less than about 40 dynes/cm for a 0.1 wt % solution, or having an HLB (Griffin) in the range of about 2 to about 20, or both; wherein the surfactant is dispersed in the gas; and (B) introducing the treatment fluid into the treatment zone.

Volatile surfactant treatment for subterranean formations

Methods including providing a treatment fluid comprising a base fluid, a wettability altering surfactant, and a chelating agent, wherein the treatment fluid has a pH of at least about 5; introducing the treatment fluid into a subterranean formation; altering a wettability of the subterranean formation from oil-wet to either mixed-wet or water-wet with the wettability altering surfactant; and complexing metal ions in the subterranean formation with the chelating agent.

Treatment fluids for reducing subterranean formation damage

A method relating to perforation operations, which comprises introducing a wettability altering fluid into a wellbore extending into a subterranean formation such that the wettability altering fluid seeps into the subterranean formation. Subsequent to introducing the wettability altering fluid, a fluid loss pill is introduced into the wellbore such that seepage of fluid between the wellbore and the subterranean formation is inhibited.

Wettability altering fluids during downhole operations

Gellable treatment fluids containing an amps-acrylamide bipolymer and a suitable surfactant can be used in various subterranean operations where it is necessary for the treatment fluid to remain in a gelled state for extended periods of time at high formation temperatures. The gellable treatment fluids are thermally-stable, solids-free self-degrading treatment fluid compositions useful in fluid loss pill, kill pill, perforation pill and other gel treatment applications.

A method of servicing a wellbore in a subterranean formation comprising preparing an invert emulsion comprising an aqueous fluid, an oleaginous fluid, and an emulsifier composition (EC), wherein the emulsifier composition comprises an emulsifier, a diluent, and a thinner, wherein the thinner comprises an alcohol, a fatty acid amide, or combinations thereof; and placing the invert emulsion in the wellbore. A method of servicing a wellbore in a subterranean formation comprising flowing a wellbore serving fluid comprising an emulsifier composition (EC) through a portion of a subterranean formation, wherein the EC comprises an emulsifier, a diluent and a thinner and wherein the thinner comprises 2-methyl-1-propanol, 2-methyl-2-butanol, a fatty acid amide, or combinations thereof; contacting the EC with oil in situ within the formation to form an emulsion; and reducing the water-oil interfacial tension and altering the wettability to provide enhanced oil recovery from the formation.
