Administering the polling of a number of devices for device status including determining whether a task identification for polling the device is in the delayed polling queue; if the task identification for polling the device is not in the delayed polling queue, determining whether the task identification for polling the device is in the immediate polling queue; if the task identification for polling the device is in the immediate polling queue; calculating a new time interval for polling the device in dependence upon a predetermined base period and a random selection of a time offset, wherein the time offset is within a predetermined range; calculating a next polling time for polling the device in dependence upon the current time and the new time interval; inserting the task identification in the delayed polling queue in dependence upon the next polling time.

Administering the polling of a number of devices for device status

Techniques for reconstructing a target hierarchy tree structure from profiling data of a computer system according to a predefined relational model, so as to obtain profiling information of a certain selected node. The predefined relational model is defined in advance according to a hierarchy tree structure of the profiling data, and is stored in an external storage system. The hierarchy tree structures can be constructed dynamically as required, thus the occupied amount of a memory can be seduced and users can view the profiling data freely.

Analyzing profiling data based on a rational model

The image data compression method involves the performing of steps: a block dividing step for dividing a computer processor pipeline statistic image to be displayed into a plurality of blocks with predetermined block width and block height; a block list creating step for creating a block list for indexed blocks containing meaningful pixels in the divided blocks such that the indexed blocks are associated with each other, wherein the meaningful pixels are pixels corresponding to the computer processor pipeline raw trace data; and a pixel information compressing step for compressing original pixel information on the meaningful pixels in the indexed blocks and storing it in the block list. Apparatus for performing the method is also provided.
