This application provides a path switching method and a related apparatus. In the path switching process, an ECMP table includes a first ECMP index of a first path group and a second ECMP index of a second path group; when all paths in the first path group have failed, a path group identifier corresponding to the first ECMP index may be changed from valid to invalid in the ECMP table, indicating that all paths in the first path group are unavailable. In this case, a path group identifier corresponding to the second ECMP index is valid, indicating that the second path group includes an available path, thereby completing switching between an active path and a standby path. In this process, only an identifier corresponding to the ECMP index needs to be updated, and therefore, the time consumed is relatively short, and the path switching delay can be effectively reduced.

Path switching method and related apparatus

A switch receives a first packet, where the first packet includes a source media access control MAC address. The switch obtains a first flapping count corresponding to the source MAC address. The switch determines, based on the first flapping count, whether a loop failure occurs in a network in which the switch is located. When the loop failure occurs in the network in which the switch is located, the switch obtains a flapping port set corresponding to the source MAC address. The switch determines a primary port in the plurality of ports, where the primary port is a port that must be suppressed. The switch enables a flooding suppression function on the primary port, where the flooding suppression function is used to suppress forwarding of a received flooding packet by the primary port.

Loop failure handling method and switch

A data plane of a first network device receives a first packet sent by a multi-homing access device, sends the first packet to a control plane of the first network device, adds an MC-LAG identifier to the first packet to obtain a second packet, and sends the second packet to a data plane of a second network device through a data forwarding path. The control plane generates a forwarding entry according to an ingress port of the first packet on the first network device and the first packet, updates a first forwarding table on the control plane according to the forwarding entry, and sends the forwarding entry to the data plane of the first network device. The data plane of the first network device updates a second forwarding table on the data plane of the first network device according to the forwarding entry.

Forwarding table synchronization method, network device, and system

The present application discloses a packet forwarding method and apparatus. An access device receives a first packet, where the first packet is an Ethernet packet, searches an equal-cost multi-path forwarding entry for a matched equal-cost path according to a destination MAC address of the Ethernet packet, where the equal-cost multi-path forwarding entry includes: a virtual MAC address corresponding to a gateway aggregation group, an identifier of each gateway device in the gateway aggregation group, and an outbound interface corresponding to the identifier of each gateway device, where the identifier is used to uniquely identify a gateway device in a large layer 2 network; and if N matched equal-cost paths are found, encapsulates the first packet into a second packet according to a first path in the N matched equal-cost paths, and forwards the second packet according to an outbound interface of the first path.
