The reception module has a signal interface () receiving inspiratory and expiratory flow signals () at regular time intervals. The first calculation module calculates a leak flow () based on a difference between the current inspiratory gas flow and the current expiratory gas flow, with an external gas flow source () separated from a ventilation circuit of the ventilation system. The second calculation module calculates an external gas flow () after connecting the external gas flow source to the ventilation circuit based on the leak flow and the difference between the current inspiratory gas flow and the current expiratory gas flow. The output module outputs an output signal (), based on the external gas flow.

A medical device has a sensor interface, a data network interface, a wireless interface, a computer, and a touch-sensitive display unit. The sensor interface detects a sensor signal indicative of at least one physiological parameter of a patient. The computer provides medical data derived from the sensor signal via the data network interface. The wireless interface receives wireless signals indicative of patient identification of a mobile device carried on the patient. The computer selects a patient identifications subset based on the wireless signals as well as determining respective image data sets based on the selected patient identifications and actuates the display unit to display respective image data sets in respective display fields and to derive a selection of a certain image data set based on a signal provided by the display unit, and to provide the identification assigned to the image data set via the data network interface.

An infant incubator heat control device includes a temperature-detecting device providing chamber interior and incubator heater temperature measured values. A first mode of operation has an interior temperature set value, a temperature of the heater set value is calculated as a function of the interior temperature set value and of the chamber interior temperature measured value. A controlled variable is calculated for the heater as a function of the temperature of the heater set value and of the heater measured value. A second mode of operation calculates a temperature of the heater set value independently of the chamber interior temperature measured value. A controlled variable is calculated for the heater as a function of the set value for the temperature of the heater and of the heater temperature measured value.
