A dosage form contains a biologically active ingredient for treating or preventing a disease in the animal or human body, where the treatment or prevention requires release of 50% or more of the biologically active ingredient in the small intestine within the pH range from 3 to 5.5. The dosage form contains: a) a core, containing the biologically active ingredient; b) an intermediate coating layer (ICL) onto or above the core, containing an alkaline agent; and c) an enteric coating layer (ECL) onto or above the intermediate coating layer, containing an enteric polymer. The relation of the alkaline agent to the enteric polymer is 5 to 95% when calculated by the formula:

Dosage form for use in treating or preventing of a disease

A pharmaceutical or nutraceutical composition with a core, an inner coating layer, and an outercoating layer, wherein a pharmaceutical or a nutraceutical active ingredient is contained in the core, one or more salts of alginic acid is contained in the inner coating layer, and one or more water-insoluble polymers or copolymers is contained in the outer coating layer. In the composition, the ratio of the amount of the one or more salts of alginic acid in the inner coating layer is at least 2.5:1 by weight to the amount of the one or more water-insoluble polymers or copolymers in the outer coating layer.

A pharmaceutical or nutraceutical composition with a core, an inner layer, and an outercoating layer, wherein a pharmaceutical or a nutraceutical active ingredient is contained in the core, at least 30% by weight of a salt of alginic acid is contained in the inner layer, and at least 30% by weight of a polymer or copolymer with anionic side groups is contained in the outer coating layer.

Gastric resistant pharmaceutical or nutraceutical composition with resistance against the influence of ethanol

The invention relates to a gastric resistant pharmaceutical or nutraceutical composition, comprising a core, comprising a pharmaceutical or nutraceutical active ingredient and a gastric resistant coating layer onto the core, wherein the release of the pharmaceutical or nutraceutical active ingredient is not more than 15% under in-vitro conditions at pH 1.2 for 2 hours in medium according to USP with and without the addition of 40% (v/v) ethanol, wherein the gastric resistant coating layer comprises 10 to 100% by weight of one or more salts of alginic acid with a viscosity of 30 to 720 cP of a 1% aqueous solution.
