Medical devices for implantation within a body vessel comprising a graft material and a releasable therapeutic agent are provided. The graft material preferably comprises a biocompatible polyurethane and a therapeutic agent. Preferably, the medical device is a stent graft formed by attaching a polyurethane graft material comprising an elutable taxane therapeutic agent to a radially expandable frame.

This invention is generally related to using treatment fluids having additives that modify rheological characteristics. Some embodiments of the present invention provide methods of using treatment fluids comprising an aqueous fluid and an associative polymer additive, wherein the associative polymer additive increases the PV of the treatment fluid by more than at least 50% and wherein the associative polymer additive increases the yield point by no more than about 30% of the corresponding increase in the PV relative to a treatment fluid without the associative polymer additive in a portion of a subterranean formation.

A coated medical device, such as a stent, that elutes a taxane agent in a controlled manner is provided. In one embodiment, the taxane agent is paclitaxel and at least a portion of the paclitaxel is present in a dihydrate solid form. The medical device may be coated with a layer including a taxane agent and a layer of bioabsorbable elastomer over the layer including the taxane agent. Methods of manufacturing and using the coated medical device are also provided.

A treatment fluid comprising an aqueous liquid and an associative polymer additive. The associative polymer additive increases the plastic viscosity (PV) of an aqueous liquid by more than at least 50% and wherein the associative polymer additive increases the yield point (YP) by no more than about 30% of the corresponding increase in the PV relative to an aqueous liquid without the associative polymer additive. Moreover, the viscosity of the aqueous liquid comprising the associative polymer additive is capable of maintaining a viscosity of greater than about 20 cP for at least 20 minutes at temperatures higher than about 275&#xb0; F. In some cases the associative polymer additive may be a hydrophobic alkoxylated aminoplast.

The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for managing cement in a subterranean zone. In some implementations, a method of cementing in a subterranean formation includes positioning a cement slurry including a plurality of activation devices in a wellbore. The activation devices configured to release an activator that increases a setting rate of the cement slurry. A signal is transmitted to at least a portion of the cement slurry to activate the activation devices. The activation device releases the activator in response to at least the signal.

Methods of activating compositions in subterranean zones

This disclosure relates to implantable medical devices coated with a taxane therapeutic agent, such as paclitaxel, in one or more solid form(s) having varying dissolution rates. Particularly preferred coatings comprise amorphous and/or solvated solid forms of taxane therapeutic agents that provide durable coatings that release the taxane over a desired period of time, which can be varied in the absence of a polymer by selecting the type and amount of solid forms of the taxane therapeutic agent in the coating. Other preferred embodiments relate to methods of coating medical devices and methods of treatment. The coatings can provide a sustained release of the taxane therapeutic agent within a body vessel without containing a polymer to achieve the desired rate of paclitaxel elution.

Activating compositions in subterranean zones

The present disclosure is directed to a system and method for sonically activating cement slurries. In some implementations, a method of treating a subterranean formation includes positioning a settable composition including a capsule in a wellbore. The capsule is used to increase a setting rate in response to at least sonic signals. A sonic signal is transmitted to at least a portion of the settable composition to release an activator from the capsule.

This disclosure relates to endolumenal medical devices coated with a taxane therapeutic agent in one or more solid form(s) having varying dissolution rates. Particularly preferred coatings comprise amorphous paclitaxel, dihydrate paclitaxel, or combinations thereof that provide durable coatings that release paclitaxel over a desired period of time, which can be on the order of hours, days or weeks. Preferred embodiments relate to medical device coatings of paclitaxel, or paclitaxel analogs or derivatives, having one or more polymorph solid forms that provide a prolonged release of paclitaxel within a body vessel without requiring a polymer carrier or barrier layer to achieve the desired rate of paclitaxel elution.
