A method and system of configuring a network using a network application of a mobile device including detecting a gesture sequence that comprises at least one gesture, in response to a user performed action. The detected gesture sequence may be indicative of network configuration rules associated with at least one network device. The method may further include receiving and storing network access credentials, and accessing a network configuration database. The network configuration database may comprise a plurality of gesture sequences and a plurality of associated tasks. The method may also include determining a match for the detected gesture sequence among the plurality of gesture sequences; determining an associated task based on the match; and performing the associated task to achieve the network configuration action. The associated task may include a network configuration action based on the network configuration rules associated with at least one network device.

System and method for network configuration and behavior control by proximity enabled devices

In a system for detecting location of an object inside of a building, an image capture device of a mobile electronic device captures an image of a boundary of a room in which the portable electronic device is positioned. The system extracts features of a boundary (ceiling, wall or floor) in the image to determine whether the mobile device is in a known location. When the system identifies a known location, it will take an action that provides the portable electronic device with additional functionality at the identified known location. Such functionality may include connecting to a wireless network or communicating with a stationary device at the known location.

Methods and systems receive location identification tokens from transmitters using a portable computerized device. A first location identification token is received from a first location transmitting device, while the portable computerized device is within a predetermined distance from a designated location. A previously stored location signature associated with the first and second location identification tokens is obtained from a computer readable storage medium. The current location signature is compared with the previously stored location signature to determine a similarity measure. The location identification tokens and the current location signature are stored in a memory and transmitted to a server. The presence of the portable computerized device at the designated location is verified based on the location identification tokens and the current location signature.

A method and system for pairing devices comprises transmitting a plurality of communication signals from each of a plurality of devices and setting an initial threshold vector of signal strengths as a current threshold vector of signal strengths for at least one target device selected from among the plurality of devices. The embodiment includes pairing at least one client device with the at least one target device when a measured vector of signal strengths exceeds the current threshold vector of signal strengths and adjusting the current threshold vector of signal strengths according to the pairing between the client device and the target device, thereby adaptively adjusting the current threshold vector of signal strengths.

Systems and methods for verifying physical proximity to a network device are provided. The method includes acquiring a tag identifier from a tag fixed in, on, or proximal to a network device, using a computing device. The tag is configured to be read and written to by electronic communication with the computing device, when the computing device is disposed in proximity to the tag. The method further includes transmitting data indicative of the tag identifier to a server, and receiving an authorization confirmation from the server. The method also includes rewriting the tag so as to replace the tag identifier with a new tag identifier, using the computing device, and performing one or more operations with the network device after receiving the authorization.

A method for establishing a network connection between a mobile electronic device and a target network device includes establishing a short-range communications link between the mobile electronic device and the target network device. The method may also include, by a processor, executing an application that causes the processor to receive network device information from the target network device, via the short-range communications link, use the identifier associated with the target network device to identify a network to which the target network device is connected, use a transmitter component of the mobile electronic device to establish the network connection between the mobile electronic device and the target network device, via the identified network, and cause the transmitter component to send a communication to the target network device, via the identified network. For example, the method includes receiving the operational sensor data, a time stamp, a location of the device and a device identification (ID) from the mobile endpoint device, wherein the operational sensor data is collected by the mobile endpoint device from the device when the mobile endpoint device initiates a communication session with the device and transmitting the operational sensor data to a management service, wherein the operational sensor data is analyzed to determine a cause of a failure of the device when the device fails.

A method and system for attaching a scan to an email reply utilizing a mobile communications device and any standard email client. A scan-to-email attachment module can be configured in association with the mobile communications device. A contact address can be added to a list of email contacts available via the mobile communications device. The contact address can be added by the user to a reply-to email as an additional address utilizing the mobile communications device so that a scan document can be sent as an attachment to an email address listed in the reply-to email. A server monitoring the contact address can be polled by the scan-to-email attachment module and a scan request initiated with respect to a scanner. An email client on the mobile communications device sends the scan document as an attachment to an email address listed in the reply-to email composed by the user. A fresh email can also be composed and the contact address can be added so that the email containing the scan document can be sent to the recipients.

Method and system for attaching scanned documents to email replies via a mobile communications device

Methods and systems for transparently extending a multi-function device onto a mobile communications device. The mobile communications device and the multi-function device can be securely connected utilizing a random code displayed on a user interface of the MFD. An extensibility application associated with the MFD can be transparently combined with an execution environment of the mobile communications device to offer a number of services. A hardware and software resource of the MFD and the mobile communications device can be combined to perform composite operations involving data from both devices. The connection can expire after a period of inactivity and require physical proximity to be established to prevent unwanted access to the MFD. Such an approach establishes a shared extensibility framework for the multifunction device and the mobile communications device as a single execution environment.

Methods and systems for transparently extending a multifunction device to a mobile communications device

Methods and systems receive an electronic scanned image generated by activity of an application running on a portable computerized device, and calculate a cryptographic digest from data of the electronic scanned image using a second computerized device. Also, such methods and systems encrypt the cryptographic digest using an encryption key stored on the portable computerized device to create a content signature of the cryptographic digest, and send the content signature to the second computerized device. The authenticity of a copy of the electronic scanned image provided by the second computerized device is verified by recalculating the content signature (based on the copy of the electronic scanned image) using the encryption key from the portable device.
