In one aspect, an example method includes (i) receiving, from one or more cameras in a viewing environment of a content-presentation device, video of a user performing a fitness exercise in the viewing environment; (ii) using the received video and a skeletal detection model to estimate skeletal movement of the user; (iii) generating a synthetic video representing the user moving according to the estimated skeletal movement; (iv) based on a comparison of the estimated skeletal movement with predefined reference skeletal movement representing desired skeletal movement for the fitness exercise, and while the user is performing the fitness exercise, continually calculating a metric representing a difference between the estimated skeletal movement and the reference skeletal movement; and (v) causing the content-presentation device to concurrently display the generated synthetic video, a reference video representing the reference skeletal movement, and an indication of the metric.

Platform for visual tracking of user fitness

Techniques for authenticating users at devices that interact with the users via voice input. For instance, the described techniques may allow a voice-input device to safely verify the identity of a user by engaging in a back-and-forth conversation. The device or another device coupled thereto may then verify the accuracy of the responses from the user during the conversation, as well as compare an audio signature associated with the user's responses to a pre-stored audio signature associated with the user. By utilizing multiple checks, the described techniques are able to accurately and safely authenticate the user based solely on an audible conversation between the user and the voice-input device.

User authentication for voice-input devices

A distributed voice controlled system has a primary assistant and at least one secondary assistant. The primary assistant has a housing to hold one or more microphones, one or more speakers, and various computing components. The secondary assistant is similar in structure, but is void of speakers. The voice controlled assistants perform transactions and other functions primarily based on verbal interactions with a user. The assistants within the system are coordinated and synchronized to perform acoustic echo cancellation, selection of a best audio input from among the assistants, and distributed processing.

Voice controlled system

A voice-activated computing device configured to transmit a pilot tone and then capture or receive a signal, which corresponds to the pilot tone, reflected from within the environment containing the voice-activated computing device. The voice-activated computing device, or some other computing system or device, analyzes the received signal in order to determine analyze one or more characteristics present within the signal, i.e. noise, echo, etc. Based upon the analysis, models for signal processing can be determined, selected and/or altered. Future signals received by the voice-activated computing device can be processed with such models. The analysis can also allow for the models to be dynamically updated and for models to be dynamically created.

Characterizing environment using ultrasound pilot tones

A system may be configured to interact with a user through speech using a first and second audio devices, where the first device produces audio and the second device captures audio. The second device may be configured to perform acoustic echo cancellation with respect to a microphone signal based on a reference signal provided by the first device. The reference and microphone signals may have the same nominal signal rates. However, the signal rates may drift from each other over time. In order to synchronize the rates of the signals, each of the devices maintains a signal index. The second device compares the values of the two signal indexes over time to determine rate differences between the reference and microphone signals and then corrects for the rate differences.
