A method in accordance with the invention controls movements of an actor, such as an autonomous vehicle. The method includes collecting one or more data sets of location information from sources that include a first actor, a second actor, and a fixed agent. Each data set indicates a current location of an object from one or more objects. The method also includes merging the data sets to generate a second set of current location information of the one or more objects, filtering the second set of current location information to remove location information of static objects to generate a subset of the current locations corresponding to a subset of the objects, using the subset of current locations to predict future locations of the subset of objects, and coordinating the movement of the first actor based on the predicted future locations to optimize one or more pre-determined criteria.

Systems for and method of connecting, controlling, and coordinating movements of autonomous vehicles and other actors

Apparatus and methods are disclosed that may be configured to respond to vibrations in a pavement induced by the travel of a vehicle on the pavement. The apparatus may include vibration sensor nodes embedded in the pavement and systems using the response of the sensor nodes to generate vehicle parameters, weight estimates, pavement deflection estimates and vehicle classifications. From these and other data, traffic ticket, tariff and insurance messages about the vehicle may be generated. Processors and processor-units are disclosed. Delivery mechanisms to configure the processor units and entities controlling and/or benefiting from the deliveries are disclosed.

In-pavement wireless vibration sensor nodes, networks and systems

A roadway information system is disclosed with components generating and using vehicle signatures for vehicles passing near sensor pods located on or near lanes. These components in turn are part of and/or communicate with means and/or processors for generating an/or using Vehicle Movement Estimates based upon the vehicle signatures. The VME are used to create traffic feedback that may be presented to programmable field devices that may present at least some of the traffic feedback to drivers of the vehicles, thereby optimizing the fuel usage and travel time of the roadway.

Method and apparatus generating estimates vehicular movement involving multiple input-output roadway nodes

A power efficient system architecture that exploits the characteristics of sensor networks in order to decrease the power consumption in the network. The primary characteristic of sensor networks is that the destination of all the data packets in the network is a central data collector and this central data collector, which is usually denoted as access point (AP), has unlimited transmission power and energy whereas the sensor nodes have limited battery energy and transmission power. The system uses the AP to directly synchronize and explicitly schedule the nodes' transmissions over Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) time slots.

Minimizing power consumption in a wireless system for a sensor networks using time slots for nodes

A double-sided exchange may be an exchange wherein both buyers and sellers provide bids for matching via the exchange. A first interface receives buy bids from buyers and a second interface receives sell bids from sellers. A controller matches the sell bids with the buy bids, yielding matched buy bids and matched sell bids in response thereto so that allocations of the matched buy bids and the matched sell bids maximize a surplus of the exchange. An allocation that substantially maximizes an auctioneer's profit and/or announces payments based on sell bids is provided. The announced allocations and prices can be shown to be a substantially competitive equilibrium in some applications.
