In accordance with the present disclosure, method may include receiving one or more environment parameter signals indicative of an environment of a wireless communication element. The method may also include communicating one or more control signals to an antenna tuner of the wireless communication element for controlling an impedance of the antenna tuner based on the one or more environment parameter signals.

In accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, a control path for a wireless communication device may include a radio frequency coupler having a coupled port and a terminated port, the radio frequency coupler configured to couple at least a portion of a transmission power of a transmission line coupled to the antenna tuner such that the coupled port carries a first signal indicative of an incident power transmitted to an antenna coupled to the antenna tuner and the terminated port carries a second signal indicative of a reflected power reflected by the antenna. the control path may also include a control module configured to communicate the one or more control signals to the antenna tuner for controlling the impedance of the antenna tuner based at least on the first signal and the second signal.

In accordance with some embodiments of the present disclosure, a method for estimating and correcting phase shift in a wireless communication device, may include converting a digital signal output by digital circuitry of the wireless communication device into a compensated digital signal based on a calculated phase error. The method may also include converting the compensated digital signal into a wireless communication signal. The method may additionally include calculating an estimated instantaneous reference phase of the digital signal output by the digital circuitry. The method may further include calculating an estimated transmit phase of the wireless communication signal. Moreover, the method may include calculating a phase error based on a difference between the estimated instantaneous reference phase and the estimated transmit phase of the wireless communication signal.

According to the present disclosure, a method for tracking power levels of a wireless communications signal comprises receiving a feedback signal indicative of a power level of a wireless communication signal associated transmitted from a transmit path to an antenna of a wireless communication element. The method further comprises receiving a reference signal associated with a digital signal converted into the wireless communication signal. Additionally, the method comprises determining a gain of the feedback signal with respect to the reference signal and determining a gain error based on the determined gain and an expected gain.

The system may include a reference signal generator configured to provide a reference signal, wherein the reference signal is associated with an ideally amplified and time aligned version of the wireless signal. Embodiments of wireless devices and transmitters are provided, which perform embodiments of automatic gain control methods. The embodiments of wireless devices and transmitters include a ramp generator, a digital gain signal generator, a combiner, and a variable gain amplifier. The ramp generator is adapted to receive a gain control input signal and to generate a gain ramp signal based on the gain control input signal. The digital gain signal generator is adapted to generate and incorporate a gain arc into a digital gain signal. A combiner is adapted to receive and combine a digital input signal with the digital gain signal, to generate a pre-compensated digital signal. The variable gain amplifier is adapted to apply gains indicated in the gain ramp signal to a pre-adjusted analog signal, which is generated based on the pre-compensated digital signal, in order to generate a gain-adjusted analog signal.

A technique of operating a communication device includes identifying a signal null associated with a signal to be transmitted on a first communication channel. A channel gain of the first communication channel is adjusted at a time that substantially coincides with the signal null to reduce transient noise spectrum coupled from the first communication channel to one or more second communication channels.
