Method for visible-light driven oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acid using carbon dioxide (CO) as the oxidant in the absence of any catalyst are provided. In the disclosed process, aldehydes, when reacted with COin an organic solvent, either in a batch reactor or in a continuous flow reactor, under conditions of ambient temperature and pressure, using a readily available household LED lamp, yield corresponding carboxylic acids along with the formation of carbon monoxide (CO) in the effluent gas.

Light assisted, catalyst-free oxidation of aldehydes to carboxylic acids using carbon dioxide

The present invention relates to a novel method for photocatalytic oxidation of allylic C—H bonds present in alkenes containing at least three carbon atoms. In this newly disclosed method, such alkenes, when reacted with carbon dioxide (CO) in an organic solvent containing a catalyst comprising of a supported molecular complex of transition metal ions under conditions of ambient temperature and pressure using a readily available household LED lamp, yield oxygenated products. The developed method represents a unique way to use COas an oxygen transfer agent to unsaturated organic compounds along with the formation of CO as a co-product using light as an energy source.

Process for the photocatalytic allylic oxidation of olefins using carbon dioxide

This invention relates to an improved process for the selective production of N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP) from gamma-butyrolactone and monomethyl amine preferably in aqueous form in the presence of a catalyst under comparatively milder conditions than the processes well known in the prior art of literature. The process is economically viable as it provides higher yield and selectivity for NMP which reduces the cost of separation of NMP from GBL. The catalyst shows good recyclability without significant loss in catalytic activity and no frequent regeneration is required.

The present invention relates to an improved process for the selective alkylation of phenols by reacting it with methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) using polymer supported carbon composite acidic catalyst under mild to moderate conditions at atmospheric pressure. The process is economically viable since the catalyst regenerated after the initial reaction on further use gives the para tertiary butyl phenol (PTBP) in high yield.

The present invention relates to a process for microwave assisted synthesis of N-methyl pyrrolidone (NMP). Particularly the process relates to the synthesis of N-methyl succinimide or corresponding analogs by using microwave irradiation which on hydrogenation in the presence of a hydrogenating catalyst gives N-methyl pyrrolidone. Compared to the conventional heating microwave process requires less energy inputs and reduces the reaction time drastically from 5-6 h to 2-5 min.
