In one embodiment, a method includes sending SRS received from a plurality of UEs associated with the base station to a DU associated with the base station, receiving information regarding a subset of the plurality of UEs selected for downlink data transmissions for an RBG, multi-user data to be transmitted to UEs in the subset, and identities of selected beams among a plurality of pre-determined beams to be associated with the UEs in the subset from the DU, where each of the plurality of pre-determined beams corresponds to a DFT vector, computing a precoding matrix for the RBG based on IDFT vectors corresponding to the selected beams, preparing pre-coded multi-user data by applying the precoding matrix to the multi-user data, and transmitting the pre-coded multi-user data to the UEs in the subset for the RBG using MIMO technologies.

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving SRS received from a plurality of UEs associated with the base station from an RU associated with the base station, estimating strengths or signal-to-noise ratios (SNRs) for pre-determined beams for each of the plurality of UEs based on the received SRS, selecting a subset of the plurality of UEs to which downlink data is to be transmitted for a RBG in a TTI based on the estimated strengths or SNRs of the pre-determined beams for the plurality of UEs, computing a precoding matrix for the RBG based on the selected subset, preparing multi-layered UE data for the RBG based on the selected subset and the computed precoding matrix, sending the multi-layered UE data and the precoding matrix for the RBG to the RU, where the RU transmits pre-coded multi-layered UE data to the UEs in the subset using MIMO technologies.

Hybrid user selection and beamforming method for multi-user MIMO

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for dynamic bandwidth allocation are disclosed. One method includes identifying, by a first distribution node of a wireless mesh network, a communication link with a second distribution node of the wireless mesh network, generating, by the first distribution node, a proposed bandwidth allocation schedule for wireless communication of information between the first distribution node and the second distribution node, wherein the second distribution node receives the proposed bandwidth allocation schedule, and wherein the second distribution node adjusts the proposed bandwidth allocation schedule. The method further includes receiving, by the first distribution node, the adjusted proposed bandwidth allocation schedule from the second distribution node, and communicating, by the first distribution node, information with the second distribution node according to the adjusted proposed bandwidth allocation schedule.

Dynamic bandwidth allocation for wireless mesh networks

Apparatuses, methods, and systems for dynamic bandwidth allocation are disclosed. One method includes identifying, by a first distribution node of a wireless mesh network, a communication link with a second distribution node of the wireless mesh network, generating, by the first distribution node, a proposed bandwidth allocation schedule for wireless communication of information between the first distribution node and the second distribution node based on data traffic requirements of the first distribution node, wherein the second distribution node receives the proposed bandwidth allocation schedule, and wherein the second distribution node adjusts the proposed bandwidth allocation schedule based upon data traffic requirements of the second distribution node. The method further includes receiving, by the first distribution node, the adjusted proposed bandwidth allocation schedule from the second distribution node, and communicating, by the first distribution node, information with the second distribution node according to the adjusted proposed bandwidth allocation schedule.

Polling using B-ACK for occasional back-channel traffic in VoWIFI applications. Within wireless communication systems having a relatively asymmetric channel (e.g., relative more downstream traffic than upstream), certain upstream communications (e.g., acknowledgments (ACKs) and/or block acknowledgments (B-ACKs)) include indication therein (e.g., piggybacked therein) that a given downstream located communication device desires/needs to make upstream communication. In some instances, specificity is also provided therein to indicate the type of information to be transmitted upstream. Such a communication protocol mitigates (or eliminates) contention between upstream and downstream traffic in an environment with significantly more downstream traffic (e.g., such as ongoing downstream traffic that may include streaming video). A coordinating device (e.g., access point (AP)) may employ such upstream provided indicia to coordinate upstream and downstream communications within the wireless communication system in a non-contentious manner that does not deleteriously affect ongoing downstream traffic.
