Methods and systems are disclosed for data retrieval, from databases to clients, in an environment requiring runtime authorization. In response to a request for T data records, a learning module provides a prediction R of a suitable number of data records to retrieve from a database. Following retrieval of R records or record identifiers, authorization is sought from an authorization service, resulting in A of the records being authorized. The A authorized records are returned to the requesting client, and, if more records are needed, T is decremented and the cycle is repeated. A performance notification is provided to the learning module for training, with respect to providing values of prediction R. The performance notification can be based on a measure of authorization service performance, the number A of authorized records, latency, communication or resource costs, a measure of resource congestion, or other parameters. Variants are disclosed.

Adaptive data retrieval with runtime authorization

Examples of upgrading a plurality of access points (APs) are described. In an example, responsive to a firmware upgrade being initiated, the plurality of APs having an identical AP type are grouped into a plurality of subsets. A primary seed AP is identified corresponding to each of the plurality of subsets, based on a resource availability of each of the plurality of APs. The primary seed AP is to download a firmware upgrade image from a remote server. Each of the plurality of APs except the primary seed AP is categorized as a non-seed AP. The non-seed AP is to download the firmware upgrade image from the primary seed AP. A network address of the remote server is sent to the primary seed AP for downloading the firmware upgrade image.

Firmware upgrade for access points

A method modifies how content is broadcast based on the tone and format of the content. One or more processors retrieve a set of rules that describe a tone and format for proposed content that is to be broadcast to an intended target, and determine whether the proposed content conforms to the set of rules. In response to determining that the proposed content does not conform to the set of rules, the processor(s) modify how the proposed content is broadcast to the intended target. The processor(s) generate an enriched content of the modified content by applying, to the modified content, content metatags that describe a content of the modified content, and then analyze the enriched content to calculate a trustworthiness index (TI) for the enriched content. The processors further modify how content is broadcast to the intended target based on the TI of the enriched content.

Control of content broadcasting

A method adjusts a broadcasting system according to properties of content being broadcast. One or more processors receive a proposed content that is designed to be a component of an electronic broadcast by a broadcast system. The processor(s) determine a broadcast analysis pattern (BAP) for the proposed content, where the BAP describes the proposed content and an intended target of the electronic broadcast. The processor(s) retrieve a set of rules that describe a tone and format for particular content that is broadcast to the intended target, and determine whether the proposed content conforms to the set of rules. In response to determining that the proposed content does not conform to the set of rules, the processor(s) adjust the broadcasting system, where adjusting the broadcasting system modifies how content is broadcast to the intended target.

One or more computers may close a purchase order by use of rules. Certain embodiments use values of attributes of a line in a purchase order (PO) to identify a rule among multiple rules. The PO line's attributes which are used to identify the rule are internal to a buyer. When the rule which is identified is disabled, the line is retained unchanged in the purchase order. When the identified rule is not disabled, a user-specified logic which is identified in the rule is used to determine a new value of a numeric term, the numeric term having a preexisting value previously agreed upon by the buyer and the seller, e.g. in units of quantity or units of money. Subsequently, an indication of the line being changed in the purchase order is transmitted to the seller. User may specify different logics in different sets of rules, for different business units.

A method and apparatus for switching between two antenna elements in an electronic device having a hinge. A rotating element within the hinge has a coupling or contact brush that extends into contact with a first contact element connected to a first antenna element. Rotation of the hinge moves the coupling of coupled communication with the first contact element and into coupled communication with a second contact element, that connects to a second antenna element. The first and second antenna elements are provided on a hinge of an electronic device that may be moved from a closed position to a 360 degree open position or tablet position. The movement of the hinge switches between the two antenna elements to avoid blocking of the connected antenna(s) by the body of the electronic device.

Methods and arrangements for providing multicast communication. There is defined a first multicast tenant group comprising a plurality of hosts distributed over a plurality of locations. Communication is established with respect to the first multicast tenant group via: defining a routing tree, and using a multicast address space for communication with the hosts via the routing tree. Embodiments herein provide a method and system for synchronization in a Wireless Communication Network using a new frame, Synchronization Frame (SF), and a configurable length of the same that is transmitted from a Network Controller (NC) to the Network Elements (NEs) in the network. The periodicity of the SF could be changed, to align with the data exchange periodicity, while still keeping synchronization. The length of the SF is made configurable to achieve this effect. It is directly proportional to the period, with which it needs to be transmitted, i.e., a larger delay between two SFs is achievable through the use of a larger SF frame size. This method provides a mechanism in which synchronization between the NC and NEs is achieved by listening to only a part of the SF, which is constant in size. This method also provides tolerance to failure by using acknowledgement schemes.

Method and system for efficient synchronization in a wireless communication system

A query statement, issued to a local database server, is re-written. The query references at least one of a first or a second object. The first object is remote with respect to the local database server, for accessing a first materialized view that is local or remote with respect to the local database server. The second object is local with respect to the local database server, to access a second materialized view that is remote with respect to the local database server. Rewriting the query can include dynamically tracking a staleness state associated with one or more of the materialized views.

In one embodiment, a plurality of materialized views is stored, where each view includes a set of aggregate expressions. Storing each materialized view comprises identifying one or more disjuncts in the set of aggregate expressions, generating a set of disjunct trees that represent the set of aggregate expressions, and storing the set of disjunct trees. When a query that requests aggregated data is received, one or more disjuncts are identified in an aggregate expression specified in the query. A disjunct tree for the disjuncts in the query is generated. Based on the disjunct tree for the query and on the set of disjunct trees for each materialized view, a particular materialized view is determined from the plurality of materialized views. The query is rewritten into an equivalent query that references the particular materialized view, where the equivalent query would retrieve the requested aggregated data from the particular materialized view.

Supporting aggregate expressions in query rewrite

A method allows a query, which contains an inline view, to be rewritten to use a materialized view. The materialized view has an inline view that is equivalent to the inline view of the query. However, the inline view of the materialized view varies textually from the inline view of the query.
