Various embodiments comprise systems, methods, architectures, mechanisms and apparatus wherein network nodes such as macrocell RANs, small/micro cell RANs, Wi-Fi Access Points (APs) and the like are modified to include a velocity sensor configured to determine if any GPS-perceived location change is accurate and, if not, to avoid or inhibit invoking restart/initialization of the network node normally invoked in response to the change in location of the network node.

Apparatus and method avoiding CBSD initialization

A communication management resource controls operation of multiple wireless stations in a network environment. For example, the communication management resource receives allocation of first wireless bandwidth, the first wireless bandwidth including multiple wireless channels. The communication management hardware partitions the first wireless bandwidth into multiple selectable bandwidth part configurations. In one implementation, the first wireless bandwidth being partitioned with respect to channel boundaries associated with the multiple wireless channels. The communication management resource controls use of the bandwidth part configurations by multiple communication devices to provide wireless access to a remote network. In response to a condition in which a previously allocated wireless channel is no longer available based on use of the wireless channel by a higher priority user, the communication management resource implements a seamless switchover from a first bandwidth part configuration to a second bandwidth part configuration.

Shared use of wireless spectrum, channel management, and seamless channel change

A configuration management resource receives wireless coverage information indicating a desired wireless coverage to be provided by a new wireless network in a selected geographical region. The configuration management resource retrieves network infrastructure map information and corresponding at least one image to produce the proposed wireless network installation plan. The network infrastructure map information indicates locations of available physical infrastructure to support installation of wireless access points. In addition to analyzing the network infrastructure map information, the configuration management resource also analyzes supplemental image information (such as including one or more images) of the available physical infrastructure to determine corresponding supplemental attributes of the available physical infrastructure. The configuration management resource produces a proposed wireless network installation plan for a new wireless network based on the locations and the corresponding attributes determine from analyzing the image information.

Configuration management and implementation of wireless networks

A communication management resource such as associated with or at a first wireless access point monitors a corresponding backhaul providing connectivity between the first wireless access point and a remote network. Based on the monitoring of the backhaul, the communication management resource produces status information indicating a status such as ability of the backhaul to convey data communications between the first wireless access point and the backhaul. The first wireless access point then controls wireless connectivity between the first wireless access point and a mobile communication device based on the status of the backhaul.

Wireless backhaul monitoring and wireless link management

A communication management resource such as a domain proxy receives a request transmitted from a wireless base station. The wireless station generates the request to register the wireless base station for subsequent allocation of wireless channels. In response to receiving the request, the communication management resource maps an identity of the wireless base station to a geographical location in which the wireless base station resides and forwards the request and notification of the geographical location to a channel allocation resource (a.k.a., allocation management resource) that allocates use of the wireless channels in a region in which the geographical location resides.

Wireless base station and location management

A first wireless access point receives communications from multiple candidate wireless access points in a monitored region in which the first wireless access point resides. The communications indicate presence of the multiple candidate wireless access points in the monitored region. A processing resource associated with the first wireless access point processes the communications to identify which of the multiple candidate wireless access points are trusted wireless access points belonging to a network in which the first wireless access point resides. To facilitate a wireless link handoff from the given wireless access point to one of the trusted wireless access points, the given wireless access point provides notification of identities of the trusted wireless access points to a communication device in communication with the given wireless access point. The communication device selects one of the trusted wireless access points in which to handoff the respective wireless communication link.

Neighbor list management and connection control in a network environment

According to one configuration, an access point control resource receives channel allocation information indicating a change to allocation of channels in a wireless band currently used by multiple wireless access points to communicate with multiple communication devices in a network. The access point control resource uses the channel allocation information to identify a particular wireless channel (such as a de-allocated wireless channel) to be terminated from use by the multiple wireless access points. In accordance with the channel allocation information, when vacating use of the de-allocated channel, the access point control resource controls an order of terminating use of the particular wireless channel by the multiple wireless access points.

Network management and wireless channel adjustment

A communication management resource associated with a wireless access point in a network environment allocates use of a wireless channel and sub-channels over time to multiple communication devices in communication with the wireless access point. For example, during use, from a first communication device of the multiple communication devices competing for wireless bandwidth, the communication management resource receives a request for allocation of wireless bandwidth to communicate over a wireless communication link with the wireless access point. Subsequent to receiving the request, the communication management resource identifies an appropriate amount of wireless bandwidth suitable to satisfy the request for bandwidth from the first communication device. In accordance with the identified amount of wireless bandwidth needed to satisfy the request, the communication management resource subdivides the wireless channel for use by the first communication device and potentially other communication devices that request use of the available wireless bandwidth.

Sub-partitioning of wireless wideband channel and usage

Techniques disclosed herein include systems and methods for providing active mobility of Wi-Fi enabled devices within a given wireless local area network (WLAN). In general, techniques include dynamically commanding Wi-Fi enabled devices to disconnect from a corresponding access point in response to meeting predetermined conditions. A forced disconnect can be based on various criteria such as low-power or lost packet thresholds triggering the forced disconnect. Such techniques cause a Wi-Fi enabled device to disconnect from one access point and connect to another access point before a connection quality deteriorates to a point that causes noticeable interruptions in connectivity or a generally poor experience, thereby enabling a smooth transition among access points.

Handoffs between access points in a Wi-Fi environment

A wireless mesh network employs an integrated interface between a plurality of access points for mitigating throughput degradation of multiple consecutive 'daisy chain,' or mesh, links. The mesh network employs a plurality of access points, each linked back to a root access point by a series of 'hops' through other access points. The wireless mesh network, therefore, employs a plurality of access points operable for wireless links to subscriber, or user, devices, including cellular phones, smart phones, tablet and laptop computing devices, or any suitable portable or handheld computing device. Access points establish an integrated interface with an adjacent access point for direct coupling of the access points for message traffic. The resulting integrated access point establishes a wireless link to a root access point connected to a backhaul network from which media services emanate.

Network management and wireless channel termination

A wireless communication link can include an uplink and a downlink between a wireless access point and a computer device. The uplink supports communications from the computer device to the wireless access point. The downlink supports communications from the wireless access point to the computer device. The computer device executes a downlink monitor application to monitor events occurring on the downlink. The wireless access point or other suitable resource such as a remote management resource executes an uplink monitor application to monitor events occurring on the uplink. The uplink application and the downlink application log events using the same master clock. The remote management resource can be configured to analyze the uplink status information in view of the downlink status information to perform one or more functions such as troubleshooting, optimizing network settings, etc.

Monitoring and management of links in a wireless network

A mobile computer device establishes a wireless communication link between the mobile computer device and a first access point of multiple access points in a network environment. While wirelessly connected to the first access point, the mobile computer device monitors communications from a set of neighboring access points including at least a second access point of the multiple access points. The mobile computer device transmits performance information derived from the monitored communications to a controller resource. To alleviate a current load on the first access point, the controller resource generates control information to terminate the wireless communication link between the mobile computer device and the first access point and establish a replacement wireless communication link between the mobile computer device and a second access point.

Link management in a wireless network environment

Sensor based information from a base station is received by a configuration management device and is used to determine orientation, altitude and/or location. In some embodiments, the configuration management device compares measurement based information to corresponding expected values in a deployment plan to determine whether or not the base station has been correctly deployed. In some embodiments, the configuration management device uses received sensor based information from a base station to control re-configuration of the base station, e.g., re-orient an antenna or change an antenna pattern.
