A customer edge device is connected, in a multi-homed configuration, to a device via a downlink of the device and to another device via another downlink of the other device. The device may determine that each of one or more uplinks of the device has an inactive interface status and may thereby cause the downlink of the device to be down. This may cause the customer edge device to communicate network traffic via the other downlink of the other device. The device may determine that at least one uplink, of the one or more uplinks, has an active interface status and may thereby cause the downlink to be up. This may cause the customer edge device to communicate network traffic via the downlink of the device.

Controlling downlink interface configuration based on uplink interface network and protocol state

A hypervisor of a device may receive information that identifies a virtual machine that is to use a universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) of the device. The hypervisor may map a set of first register addresses, associated with a physical UART port, and a set of variable addresses. The hypervisor may map a second set of register addresses, associated with a virtual UART port of the virtual machine, and the set of variable addresses. The hypervisor may permit the virtual machine to communicate, with a remote device, using the physical UART port based on mapping the set of second register addresses and the set of variable addresses.

Universal asynchronous receiver/transmitter (UART) data pass-through for virtualized environments

A device may receive information associated with a set of types of virtual network interface cards (vNICs). A hypervisor, of the device, being capable of connecting a vNIC, to a virtual bus, to connect a virtual machine, of the device, to a network. The device may connect the vNIC, to the virtual bus, based on the information associated with the set of types of vNICs. The vNIC being associated with a type of the set of types. The device may determine whether the virtual machine is compatible with the vNIC based on connecting the vNIC to the virtual bus. The device may selectively connect another vNIC, to the virtual bus, based on determining whether the virtual machine is compatible with the vNIC.

Hypervisor detection of virtual machine and network interface compatibility

A device may receive a request to establish a connection to a network device or one or more other network devices. The request may include a destination identifier that identifies a destination to which the request is to be provided. The one or more other network devices may be associated with a same Internet protocol (IP) address as the network device. The device may determine, from the destination identifier, a device identifier that identifies the network device or another network device as the destination to which the request is to be provided. The device may determine whether the device identifier matches a set of stored device identifiers. The device may provide the request to the network device or the other network device based on determining that the device identifier matches the set of stored device identifiers. The device may perform an action related to the request or the connection.
