Systems, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed for mitigating microwave interference in electronic devices. Example devices may include memory and at least one processor configured to access the memory and execute computer-executable instructions to determine that a microwave source is inactive, transmit a second message to the access point requesting the access point to send the data, receive, from the access point, the data buffered during the first duration, and transmit a third message to the access point, the third message cancelling the buffer request of the first message.

Mitigation of microwave interference

A method and system including a monitoring device to detect, during a session, a set of radar signals associated with first respiratory-related movements of a first person and second respiratory-related movements of a second person located within a detection zone comprising at least a portion of a bed. The method and system dynamically generate an out-of-bed zone adjacent to a side of the bed. The out-of-bed zone is monitored to detect motion within the zone to determine when the first person exits and enters the bed. The method and system identify a portion of the set of radar signals collected during a time period when the first person is determined to be out of the bed. The identified portion of the set of radar signals is removed from the set of radar signals collected during the sleep session.

Out-of-bed zone generation and monitoring associated with respiratory activity tracking

A system and method for network channel selection is provided. A device includes WIFI, ZIGBEE, and BLUETOOTH communication controllers. The device's processor is configured to determine, using the communication controllers, a WIFI channel designated for communications and a first set of ZIGBEE channels designated for communications. The processor is configured to determine that a number of available BLUETOOTH channels that do not overlap the WIFI channel or any in-use ZIGBEE channels is less than a threshold number of BLUETOOTH channels required for communication using a BLUETOOTH protocol. The processor then determines the WIFI channel has a minimum duty cycle from among duty cycles of the WIFI channel and each ZIGBEE channel, determines a first BLUETOOTH channel that at least partially overlaps the WIFI channel, and causes the BLUETOOTH communication controller to transmit data using the first BLUETOOTH channel.

Network channel selection for device with co-located radio transmitters and receivers

Systems and methods for fall detection on uneven surfaces utilizing radar are disclosed. For example, an electronic device may receive reflected energy from surfaces in an environment. Corresponding sensor data associated with an object moving on an uneven surface may be utilized to determine a velocity of the object and a height change of the object. When the velocity indicates that the object has stopped moving toward or away from the sensing device, and the height values indicate a sudden decrease in height, a fall event may be detected.

Fall detection on uneven surfaces using radar

A computer-implemented method includes receiving, from an application framework, a set of tasks, a throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and a set of active connections for a radio network comprising a Wi-Fi radio and a Zigbee radio. The computer-implemented method also includes determining, using the set of tasks, the throughput requirement for each task of the set of tasks, and the set of active connections, a target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle and setting the Wi-Fi radio to operate at the target Wi-Fi radio duty cycle. The computer-implemented method further includes monitoring, using a monitoring unit, air time statistics associated with the Wi-Fi radio, determining, using the air time statistics, a measured Wi-Fi duty cycle, and adjusting Wi-Fi radio settings to decrease a difference between the target Wi-Fi duty cycle and the measured Wi-Fi duty cycle.

Algorithm for improving zigbee reliability and latency in a multi-radio system

Systems and methods for boundary approximation utilizing radar are disclosed. For example, a heatmap of an environment may be generated utilizing data from reflected energy received at a device. The heatmap may be utilized to generate a point cloud representing the environment, where points of the point cloud indicate rates of change of energy intensity associated with surfaces in the environment. The points may be utilized to determine a mean line indicating an approximated distance between a portion of the environment, such as a wall, and the device.

Boundary approximation utilizing radar

A user to control the functionality associated with a physical input object for an augmented reality (AR) application. A state control element of a user interface can be displayed through the AR application, and motions of the input object analyzed with respect to element. This can comprise swiping in a first or second direction to cause the physical object to function, or not to function, as a cursor for the user interface. In this way, interactions of the physical object with AR elements will only be analyzed when the object is functioning as a cursor. Foveated rendering or other AR elements can be used during a selection period to provide an indication that an element of the UI interface is in the process of being selected. The user can maintain the position to perform the selection action is intended, or can change the position to cancel the selection.

Input control for augmented reality applications

An augmented reality (AR) application allows for the specification of various lighting conditions, or lighting states, that can be simulated for an augmented reality view of a scene. This can include, for example, specifying a time of day to cause the view to be rendered with a specific amount of sunlight, or specifying a state of various light sources that can impact the illumination of the scene. A light map and lighting state data can be determined for the scene. A change to the lighting state data can result in a filter being applied to the live view of the scene to cause the overall appearance to correspond to the target lighting state. Augmented reality content displayed with respect to the live view can be rendered to have an appearance that corresponds to the altered live view. AR content can also be used to update the appearance of shadows.

Light simulation for augmented reality applications

Multiple devices executing an augmented reality (AR) application in a specific area can capture position data for objects in that area, which can be used to determine how to render the AR content. Since accuracy of this data falls off with distance, the data from the various devices can be collected by a dedicated server that can aggregate the position data to attempt to obtain a more accurate authoritative data set for the positions of objects and features in the area. At least relevant portions of the authoritative data set are transmitted back the individual devices such that the devices can use the more accurate data to render location- and scale-appropriate AR content over a live camera view captured by that device. Devices may receive data for the current field of view or other portions of the authoritative data set, as well as appropriate updates.

Data aggregation for augmented reality applications

An environment map, such as a cube map, can be dynamically generated for a scene using image data captured by a device executing an augmented reality (AR) application. The current orientation of the device, along with field of view information for the camera, can be used to determine a portion of the environment map that corresponds to the captured image data. The image data can be used to fill in that portion, and subsequent image data captured for other orientations used to fill the remaining portions. The generated environment map can then be used to render AR content to be displayed with a live view of the scene. This can include determining the illumination and/or reflections effects for the AR content. The rendered AR content can be displayed as an overlay with respect to a live view of the scene.

Dynamic environment mapping for augmented reality

Parts of the body of a user can be used as surfaces for rendering content, such as augmented reality (AR) content. A computing device executing an AR application can detect body parts in an augmented reality view, such as a hand within a field of view of a camera capturing image data for the application. A type of content to be displayed can be determined based on the type and orientation of the body part, in addition to the location and orientation of the device. The content can vary with changes in the orientation of the body part or motion to cause another body part to be visible. A user can make a selection or input for the content by contacting the surface of the body part onto which the content is projected, providing tactile feedback to the user as well as a determinable action for the device.

Using body surfaces for placing augmented reality content

An environment map, such as a cube map, can be obtained for a scene that is appropriate for the current lighting state. A grayscale image representation is generated that represents physical objects visible in the scene. The grayscale representation is provided to a device for rendering AR content. A color lookup table (LUT) is generated for coloring the grayscale image representation. The color LUT can be appropriate for the current lighting conditions of the scene. As the lighting state changes, such as over the course of a day, different color LUTs can be sent to the device for purposes of updating the environment map. The grayscale image representation, once colored, can serve as an environment map for purposes of creating reflection effects on AR content to be rendered with respect to a live view of the scene.

Color variant environment mapping for augmented reality

Realistic reflections can be generated for augmented reality content displayed with respect to a view of a physical scene. A device executing an AR application obtains a three dimensional representation of the scene. The representation is used to determine surface orientation information for various physical objects in the physical scene, indicating how incident light would be reflected from those surfaces. The device can also use an infrared detector or transceiver to obtain an infrared view of the scene. The infrared data can be analyzed to determine the reflectivity of the various surfaces in the scene. Utilizing the surface orientation and reflectivity data, reflections from various AR content rendered for the scene can be determined. The corresponding pixels of the live view of the scene can then be color adjusted to account for the reflection, or an overlay can be generated that simulates the color adjustment for the reflection.

Infrared reflectivity determinations for augmented reality rendering

Described are techniques for enabling a computing device, such as a slave device using a Bluetooth Advanced Audio Distribution Protocol (A2DP), to determine times when a master device is likely to be idle, during which communications using an alternate protocol, such as Wi-Fi may be exchanged. The length of a delay period may be determined based in part on counts of successive communications received from a master device. The length of a transmission period for use of the alternate protocol may be determined based in part on lengths of time between sets of communications received from a master device. If no communication is received from the master device for a length of time greater than or equal to the delay period, data may be communicated using the alternate protocol for a length of time less than or equal to the transmission period.
