An apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes one or more processors comprising register sharing circuitry to receive meta-information indicating a number of threads that are to be disabled and provide an indication that an associated thread is disabled, a plurality of General Purpose Register Files (GRFs), wherein one or more of the plurality of GRFs is associated with one of the plurality of threads and a plurality of multiplexers coupled to the one or more GRFs to receive the indication from the register sharing circuitry and disable thread access to an associated GRF based on an indication that a thread is to be disabled.

An processor to facilitate register sharing is disclosed. The processor includes a plurality of execution units (EUs), each including a General Purpose Register File (GRF) having a plurality of registers; and register sharing hardware to divide the plurality of registers into a first set of registers dedicated for execution of a first set of threads and a second set of registers shared for execution of a second set of threads.

An apparatus to facilitate register sharing is disclosed. The apparatus includes one or more processors to generate first machine code having a first General Purpose Register (GRF) per thread ratio, detect an occurrence of one or more spill/fill instructions in the first machine code, and generate second machine code having a second GRF per thread ratio upon a detection of one or more spill/fill instructions in the first machine code, wherein the second GRF per thread ratio is based on a disabling of a first of a plurality of hardware threads.

Recompiling GPU code based on spill/fill instructions and number of stall cycles

Vector processing systems and methods disclosed herein generate efficient vector initialization code that leverages performance advantages of single instruction, multiple data (SIMD) instructions and immediate operands. In some embodiments, a vector processing system scans existing code for initialization syntax that specifies values which match one or more target patterns. Where the vector processing system identifies one or more of these target patterns within the specified values, the vector processing system generates enhanced vector initialization code. This enhanced vector initialization code is configured to outperform vector initialization code that sequentially loads discrete values to discrete channels within a vector register.
