A furnace with a baffle assembly including at least one horizontal gap, and a heating, ventilation, and/or air conditioning (HVAC) system incorporating the same are provided. The furnace includes a furnace heat exchanger, a baffle assembly, and a fan. The baffle assembly is disposed adjacent to the furnace heat exchanger. The fan is in airflow communication with the furnace heat exchanger. The baffle assembly may include a first side and a second side. Each of the first side and the second side may respectively include a first section and a second section. A horizontal gap may be disposed between the first section and the second section (e.g., on either or both of the first side and the second side). The horizontal gap(s) may increase the efficiency of the furnace and/or the HVAC system.

Aspects of the invention are directed towards apparatus with cambered louvers. One or more embodiments of the invention describe a louver comprising a plurality of slats arranged in a vertical direction or a horizontal direction; and each of the slats in the louver comprise a leading edge, a trailing edge opposite to the leading edge, and a chord line connecting the leading edge with the trailing edge. Further, each of the slats in the louver has a cambered profile, wherein the cambered profile includes a camber distance varying in the range of about 20%-30% from the leading edge and a camber height varying in the range of about 5%-15% of a total camber height.

A system and a method for operating an air handling unit (AHU) at an effective static pressure setpoint in a HVAC system. The method includes receiving airflow setpoint values from each of a plurality of variable air volume (VAV) units to determine a combined airflow set point for the plurality of VAV units of an air handling unit (AHU). The method also includes determining an effective static pressure setpoint for the AHU based on a relation between the combined airflow setpoint value and a static pressure represented by a system effect curve.

Disclosed is a receptor for receiving condensate from a v-coil heat exchanger (v-coil), the receptor having: a first channel having a first length defined between first opposing ends, the first channel configured to receive the v-coil; a second channel having a second length defined between second opposing ends, the second channel including: a first orifice intermediate the second opposing ends for receiving condensate from the first channel, the first orifice being fluidly connected to one end of the first opposing ends at a junction; and a fluid drain port at one or both of the second opposing ends.
