A method includes detecting a determined operating condition of a first power converter that is one of a plurality of first power converters in a power generating unit, and the power generating unit is one of a plurality of power generating units. The method further includes responding to detection of the determined operating condition by: controlling, via at least one remaining first power converter of the plurality of first power converters, a load current flowing through a power bus coupled to the plurality of power generating units, and altering one or more droop characteristics corresponding to one or more second power converters disposed in other power generating units based at least in part on the controlled load current flowing through the power bus, wherein the one or more second power converters disposed in other power generating units are coupled to the power bus.

Power generation system and associated method

A power system is disclosed. The power system includes a first power generating unit. The first power generating unit includes a first power converting subunit and a first control unit coupled to the first power converting subunit, where the first control unit is configured to regulate a voltage of the first power generating unit. The power system further includes a second power generating unit coupled to the first power generating unit and a load, where the second power generating unit includes a second power converting subunit and a second control unit coupled to the second power converting subunit, wherein the second control unit is configured to control a current of the second power generating unit to share a quantity of electrical output current flowing through the load among the first and second power generating units.

A system including a converter is disclosed. The converter includes a first switch having one or more first controllable switches coupled in parallel across at least one diode. A first controlling unit is operatively coupled to the converter. The first controlling unit is configured to determine a temperature of the one or more first controllable switches. The first controlling unit is further configured to compare the determined temperature of the one or more first controllable switches with a transition temperature at which a first power loss of the one or more first controllable switches is equal to a second power loss of the at least one diode and control a switching state of the one or more first controllable switches based on the comparison of the determined temperature with the transition temperature.

Power conversion system and an associated method thereof

A power system is presented. The power system includes a first converter including a first output terminal a first control unit coupled to the first converter, a second converter including a second output terminal, where the second converter is coupled in parallel to the first converter, and a second control unit coupled to the second converter. The second control unit is configured to measure a plurality of phase currents at the second output terminal, determine a harmonic current transmitted by the second converter based on single phase current of the plurality of measured phase currents, and change a time-period of at least one switching cycle of a carrier wave of the second converter based on the determined harmonic current to synchronize with a carrier wave of the first converter.

An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and methods of operation are provided. The UPS includes a transformer configured to receive power from a utility. The transformer includes a primary winding, a secondary winding, and a tertiary winding. The UPS also includes a rectifier coupled to the secondary winding and an inverter coupled to an output of the rectifier, wherein a connection between the rectifier and the inverter defines a DC link. The inverter is configured to output a first regulated voltage configured to be provided to a load. The UPS further includes a voltage-boost converter coupled to the tertiary winding and is configured to output a second regulated voltage to be combined with the first regulated voltage.

Systems and methods for operating uninterruptible power supplies

A system is provided. The system includes a utility, a plurality of uninterruptible power supplies (UPSs), a ring bus, at least one load electrically coupled to the plurality of UPSs and the ring bus, and a controller communicatively coupled to the plurality of UPSs, the controller configured to determine a common reference angle while the utility is disconnected from at least one UPS of the plurality of UPSs, calculate a phase angle for each UPS of the plurality of UPSs, wherein the phase angle for each UPS is calculated relative to the common reference angle, and control operation of each UPS based on the respective calculated phase angles.
