Provided herein are methods systems and compositions of a fracturing fluid comprising an associative polymer and clay nanoparticles. A method may comprise: providing a fracturing fluid comprising: a carrier fluid; an associative polymer; and clay nanoparticles; and injecting the fracturing fluid into a subterranean formation at or above a fracture gradient.

Associative polymer fluid with clay nanoparticles for proppant suspension

Lightweight micro-proppant suitable to prop open not only near-wellbore microfractures but also far-field microfractures. Some methods of fracturing and propping may comprise first introducing a pad fluid comprising a lightweight micro-proppant into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation at a rate and pressure sufficient to create or extend a fracture network in the subterranean formation, wherein the fracture network comprises microfractures. The lightweight micro-proppant comprises a thermoset nanocomposite having a specific gravity of about 0.9 to about 1.4 and having an average diameter of about 0.1 microns to about 50 microns. Then introducing a proppant slurry comprising a macro-proppant into the wellbore penetrating the subterranean formation after introducing the pad fluid forming a proppant pack in the fracture network wherein at least some of the lightweight micro-proppant is located in the microfractures.

Lightweight micro-proppant

Methods and compositions for stimulating oil or gas production from a well with a single treatment fluid for use in a combined acidizing and hydraulic fracturing treatment are provided. An embodiment is a method comprising: coating a plurality of proppant particulates with oil to form oil-coated proppant particulates; adding the oil-coated proppant particulates to a solution comprising water, an acid source, and an emulsifier, wherein the ratio of the oil coating the proppant particulates to the water in the solution is less than 20:80 by volume; and mixing the solution and the oil-coated proppant particulates to form a treatment fluid comprising a water-in-oil emulsion and the oil-coated proppant particulates.

Acidizing and proppant transport with emulsified fluid

A method of treating in a subterranean formation including combining a dimer acid; proppant; an emulsifier; an oil base fluid; and aqueous base fluid to form an oil-external emulsified fluid; and introducing the oil-external emulsified fluid into the subterranean formation. A method of forming a wellbore fluid including combining proppant; a dimer acid; an aqueous base fluid, an oil base fluid, and an emulsifier to form a pre-emulsified fluid; and mixing the pre-emulsified fluid to form an oil-external emulsified fluid.

Proppant-free channels may be formed in a proppant pack in subterranean formations by using the miscibility and immiscibility of proppant-laden and proppant-free fluids. For example, a method of forming a proppant pack may include: introducing, in alternating order, a proppant-laden fluid and a proppant-free fluid into a wellbore penetrating a subterranean formation, wherein the proppant-laden fluid comprises an oil-external emulsion and a proppant, and wherein the proppant-free fluid is immiscible with the proppant-laden fluid; and forming a proppant pack in a fracture in the subterranean formation, wherein the proppant pack comprises proppant-laden clusters and proppant-free channels.

Forming proppant-free channels in a proppant pack

Methods including introducing a treatment fluid into a subterranean formation having at least one fracture therein, the treatment fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid and brush photopolymerized coated proppant particulates (bPCPPs), and placing the bPCPPs into the at least one fracture to form a proppant pack therein. The bPCPPs comprise proppant modified with a coupling agent photopolymerized to a derivatized hydrophilic polymer, thereby resulting in a brush polymer structure of the derivatized hydrophilic polymer extending from the proppant.

Multifunctional brush photopolymerized coated proppant particulates use in subterranean formation operations

A method of treating in a subterranean formation including combining an aqueous base fluid, an oil based fluid, a hydrophobic proppant, and a non-hydrophobic proppant to form an immiscible fluid system; and introducing the immiscible fluid system into the subterranean formation. A method of treating includes combining an aqueous base fluid, an oil based fluid, a hydrophobic proppant, and a non-hydrophobic proppant to form an immiscible fluid system; introducing the immiscible fluid system into a fracture in the formation; allowing the immiscible fluid system to separate into at least two separate phases, wherein the oil based fluid and hydrophobic proppant to form proppant aggregates and the aqueous based fluid to act as a spacer fluid surrounding at least a portion of the proppant aggregates; and removing the spacer fluid from the fracture during flowback stage or well production to form proppant-free channels between proppant aggregates.

Vertical proppant suspension in hydraulic fractures

Methods of preparing a viscosified treatment fluid comprising a base fluid, a gelling agent, and breaker coated particulates ('BCPs'). The BCPs comprise particulates at least partially coated with a first layer of a stabilization agent followed by a second layer of a breaker. The viscosified treatment fluid may be introduced into a subterranean formation, the breaker activated to reduce a viscosity thereof, and a particulate pack formed in the subterranean formation with the BCPs.

Breaker coated particulates for use in subterranean formation operations

A system and methods for breaking friction reducers in subterranean formations in-situ during hydraulic fracturing operations are disclosed. A method of fracturing a subterranean formation is disclosed, including providing a well treating fluid, adding a friction reducer into a water phase of an emulsion, adding a breaker into the water phase, and injecting the well treating fluid into the subterranean formation at a pressure sufficient to fracture the subterranean formation and invert the emulsion and double emulsion, thereby allowing the breaker to break the friction reducer. A friction reducer-breaker system for breaking a friction reducer polymer in-situ is also disclosed, including an oil phase, a water phase including friction reducer polymers and breakers in double emulsion dispersed throughout the water phase, wherein the emulsion and double emulsion are configured to invert under shear, thereby providing for mixing between the friction reducer polymers and the breakers.

Systems and methods for breaking friction reducers in-situ

Methods including creating or extending a first main fracture with a pad fluid into a subterranean formation, wherein the pad fluid is a high-viscosity fluid; alternatingly introducing a micro-proppant fluid with the pad fluid, wherein the micro-proppant fluid is a low-viscosity fluid comprising micro-sized proppant particulates; creating or extending a first branch fracture extending from the first main fracture with the alternatingly introduced micro-proppant fluid, whereby at least a portion of the micro-sized proppant particulates enter into the first branch fracture and form at least a partial monolayer of micro-sized proppant particulates therein; and introducing a macro-proppant fluid through the first opening at a second flow rate, wherein the macro-proppant fluid is a low-viscosity fluid comprising macro-sized proppant particulates, and whereby at least a portion of the macro-sized proppant particulates enter into the first main fracture and form a proppant pack therein.

Enhancing complex fracture networks in subterranean formations

A method and a composition for suppressing and eliminating dust particulate. The composition includes an aqueous gelling solution, and a proppant particulate. The aqueous gelling solution and the proppant particulate are combined to create a mixture. The aqueous gelling solution and the proppant particulate may be combined using at least one of composition spraying the aqueous gelling solution, mist spraying the aqueous gelling solution, and atomized spraying aqueous gelling solution. The mixture may include around 0.1 weight percent to 5 weight percent w/v of the aqueous gelling solution. The gelling agent may include a suitable viscosifying polymer. The suitable viscosifying polymer may include at least one of natural polymers, derivatives of natural polymers, synthetic polymers, biopolymers, and any combination thereof, guar, xanthan, diutan, scleroglucan, high-molecular weight polysaccharides, any derivative thereof, and any combination thereof, hydropropyl guar (HPG), carboxymethyl guar (CMG), and carboxymethylhydroxypropyl guar (CMHPG).

Fracturing fluid and method of use

A method of foam fracturing a subterranean formation includes providing an fracturing foam fluid comprising an aqueous base fluid, a cationic polymer, optionally a foam surfactant comprising at least one of an amphoteric surfactant, cationic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, and combinations thereof, and sufficient gas to form a foamed fracturing fluid; and fracturing the subterranean formation with the foamed fracturing fluid. Stable fracturing foams include an aqueous base fluid, a cationic polymer, optionally a foam surfactant comprising at least one of an amphoteric surfactant, cationic surfactant, an anionic surfactant, and combinations thereof, and sufficient gas to form a foamed fracturing fluid.
