A system and method to distribute traffic flows among a plurality of applications in a data center system. An apparatus is operable with a plurality of applications connected through a programmable switch and is configured to select traffic flows to ones of the plurality of applications. The apparatus is also configured to monitor and collect statistics for the traffic flows to determine rule level statistics, and move at least one traffic flow of the traffic flows from a network interface to a different network interface based on the rule level statistics.

System and method to distribute traffic flows among a plurality of applications in a data center system

A method performed by a switch in a software-defined network (SDN), the switch being communicatively coupled to a controller, is provided. The method includes performing a first flow action with respect to a first flow (e.g., deleting the first flow). The method further includes storing a first flow event data object, the first flow event data object indicating the first flow and the first flow action. The method further includes storing a first tag in association with the flow event data object. The method further includes generating a flow event message comprising the first flow event data object and the first tag. The method further includes sending the flow event message to the controller.

Optimized reconciliation in a controller-switch network

Methods of Internet of Things (IoT) device access are disclosed. In one embodiment, a method is implemented in a software-defined networking (SDN) controller. The method includes receiving a node discovery request from a network device that receives a unicast neighbor solicitation message from an electronic device that supports IPv6. The unicast neighbor solicitation message contains an IPv6 address to be registered. The method also includes causing a device entry to be generated in a device discovery table, and transmitting an acknowledgment to the network device upon the device entry being generated successfully. The method continues with transmitting a request to the network device to generate a flow table entry for the electronic device based on a policy table. The flow table entry includes an operation to be performed, and the network device is to perform the operation on a packet received matching the flow table entry.
