For example, a first Bluetooth (BT) device may be configured to operate in a role of a peripheral device over a BT link between the first BT device and a second BT device; and to initiate a role switch to switch the first BT device from the role of the peripheral device to a role of a central device over the BT link between the first BT device and the second BT device, based on a determination that the BT link between the first BT device and the second BT device is to be operated as an audio link to communicate audio data between the first BT device, as an audio source, and the second BT device, as an audio sink.

In one embodiment, an apparatus of a wireless communication device includes control circuitry to cause receiver circuitry of the wireless communication device to switch between an on-mode and an off-mode. The apparatus also includes synchronizing circuitry to: perform a correlation on signals of a packet received by the receiver circuitry when in the on-mode to detect a pattern in the received signals, and cause the control circuitry to hold the receiver circuitry in the on-mode based on detection of the pattern in the received signals. The apparatus further includes demodulation circuitry to process additional signals of the packet received by the receiver circuitry when held in the on-mode.

A device and a method for mixed mode communication are disclosed. For example, a Bluetooth master device transmits data packets to a Bluetooth slave device and receives acknowledgments from the Bluetooth slave device, by controlling a transceiver to transmit the data packets based on a Bluetooth Basic Rate/Enhanced Data Rate (BR/EDR) protocol, and to receive the acknowledgements packet (ACK) based on a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) protocol. In another example, a Bluetooth slave device receives the data packets from a Bluetooth master device and transmits acknowledgments to the Bluetooth master device, by controlling a transceiver to receive the data packets based on a BR/EDR protocol, and to transmit the ACK based on a BLE protocol.

In one example, among others, a communication device includes a coexistence manager capable of monitoring operating conditions of a cellular modem and a coexistence assistant capable of monitoring operating conditions of a wireless connectivity unit. The coexistence manager is capable of modifying operation of the modem and/or unit based on an operating condition change. In another example, a method includes detecting a change in antenna isolation and/or operating temperature of a FE filter, determining filtering characteristics of the FE filter based at least in part upon the change, and modifying communications of coexisting communication protocols based at least in part upon the filtering characteristics. In another example, a TX/RX configuration for coexisting communication protocols is determined and communications in a protocol is modified based at least in part upon the TX/RX configuration.

Dynamic space, frequency and time domain coexistence

Methods and systems for enabling coexistence of multiple potentially interfering wireless components in a device are provided. A device may include a wireless module using a proprietary protocol and one or more modules using standardized protocols. The device further includes a coexistence arbitration module configured to arbitrate access to a shared communication medium among the wireless modules based on assertion of medium access requests by the modules and the associated priority of the asserted medium access requests. When multiple medium access requests have the same priority, precedence for access to the shared medium is determined based on additional criteria. The coexistence arbitration module may be a separate module or may be integrated into another module or distributed among the modules. The device may include a host processor for altering transmission characteristics of a module to increase the likelihood that another module can receive data within a reasonable time period.

Systems and methods for enabling coexistence of multiple wireless components operating in the same frequency band

Various methods and systems are provided for time domain coexistence of RF signals. In one example, among others, a method includes obtaining access to a WLAN channel during a free period of a coexisting cellular connection, providing a RDG to allow another device to transmit for a duration corresponding to at least a portion of a TXOP, and receiving a transmission during the duration. In another example, a method includes obtaining access to a WLAN channel during a transmission period of a coexisting cellular connection and providing a protection frame to defer transmissions from another device for a duration corresponding to at least a portion of a TXOP. In another example, a method includes determining a shift of a BT transaction based at least in part upon a schedule of cellular communications and shifting at least a portion of the BT transaction based upon the determined shift.

Time domain coexistence of RF signals

An arrangement for detection of multiple signals concurrently is disclosed. The arrangement includes a demodulator component, a mixer and a detector. The demodulator component is configured to demodulate or obtain one or more components from a received signal. The mixer is configured to mix the one or more components into a folded signal using a plurality of varied local oscillator (LO) signals. The detector is configured to identify a valid signal within the folded signal and to initiate a response for the identified valid signal.

A device implementing a system for managing interference between collocated radios may include a first radio module, a collocated second radio module, and a host processor. The first radio module may be configured to generate a collocated radio tolerance indicator that indicates a tolerance of the first radio module to interference caused by the collocated second radio module when the collocated second radio module is transmitting, and provide the collocated radio tolerance indicator to a host processor when a second collocated radio module is transmitting. The host processor may be configured to control the second radio module based at least in part on the collocated radio tolerance indicator.
