A compressor intake mixer system for internal combustion gas engines having a compressed charge bypass system comprises a bypass charge and fuel pre-mixer connected in line with the charge bypass system to reduce pressure gradient between the high pressure bypass charge and the low pressure fuel. A single volume main mixer is connected to the compressor inlet downstream of the pre-mixer to mix the flow of premixed charge and air and provide a mixed gas to the compressor inlet. Thus a need for a separate volume for a fuel mixer and a bypass mixer is eliminated and a single volume is provided at the compressor inlet. The locational constraint of necessarily locating the volumes at the compressor inlet is also obviated by providing a pre-mixer.

This disclosure provides a fuel system for supplying fuel to an internal combustion engine, an internal combustion engine that includes such a fuel system, a connector for connecting a single-walled high pressure common rail to a double-walled fuel line segment, and a fluid containment system. Each embodiment includes drain plumbing having a leakage drain connector that can be used to provide an interface between a single-walled high pressure common rail and a double-walled high pressure fuel line segment, and also provide part of a low pressure passage fluidly connected with a low pressure passage of the double-walled high pressure fuel line segment. The drain plumbing also can provide an interface with a low pressure fuel drain line fluidly coupled to a leakage detector.

Common rail system with leak containment and detection

This disclosure provides a fuel line assembly for use with an internal combustion engine, an internal combustion engine including such as fuel line assembly, and a method for providing leak containment and detection in a fuel system, each of which include a double-walled fuel line including a high pressure fuel line component. The double-walled fuel line includes a high pressure fuel line, a jacket surrounding the high pressure fuel line, and a low pressure passage between the high pressure fuel line and the jacket. A fuel line nut includes a main body that houses a portion of the high pressure fuel line, and a first end portion supporting an enlarged end portion of the high pressure fuel line protruding from the first end portion. A second end portion of the fuel line nut sealingly connects to the jacket to extend the low pressure passage into an area between the main body and the housed high pressure fuel line. A fuel line connector mechanically and sealingly engages with the fuel line nut to house the supported enlarged end portion of the high pressure fuel line. The fuel line connector can connect to a single-walled high pressure tube provided in a bore of the cylinder head between an inlet of a fuel injector and the environment exterior of the cylinder head.
