An irregularly etched metallic medical implant device is provided having random non-uniform relief patterns on the surface ranging from about 0.3 &mgr;m to less than about 20 &mgr;m in depth. The random, irregular surface as defined by the etch micromorphology and respective dimensional properties is sobtained by exposing a surface to a reactive plasma in a chamber wherein said reactive plasma produces a reaction product with the surface to thereby etch the surface, said reaction product or a complex thereof having a vapor pressure lower than a pressure in the chamber; providing a dynamic masking agent during the etching process; and removing the reaction products.

Surface modification of medical implants

An irregularly etched medical implant device is provided having random non-uniform relief patterns on the surface ranging from about 0.3 .mu.m to less than about 20 .mu.m in depth. The random, irregular surface as defined by the etch micromorphology and respective dimensional properties are obtained by exposing a surface to a reactive plasma in a chamber wherein said reactive plasma produces a reaction product with the surface to thereby etch the surface, said reaction product or a complex thereof having a vapor pressure lower than a pressure in the chamber; providing a dynamic masking agent during the etching process; and removing the reaction products.

A mixer for the mixing of components, comprising a continuous inner surface that is non-retaining to the components, wherein a first portion of the inner surface opposably contacts a second portion of the inner surface during mixing, and a means for supplying a component to the mixer; a kit including the mixer, and methods of using the mixer to prepare compositions.

Mixing device

A mixer for the mixing of a first and a second component, comprising a flexible pouch which contains said first component and which has an inner surface that is non-retaining to the components; means for supplying the second component to the chamber for mixing with the first component; and a neck attached to said pouch.
