A method for smart guided selection of networks includes detecting a wireless connectivity issue between. The in-vehicle network device is inside a vehicle, and the network access device may be inside or outside the vehicle. The method further includes receiving network data. The network data includes a list of available networks and network performance characteristics of each of the available networks. The method includes predicting, using machine learning, quality of service (QoS) metrics of the available networks along a trip of a vehicle and selecting a one or more networks from the list of available networks for one or more in-vehicle network devices based constraint solving on the predicted QoS metrics of the list available networks and QoS constraints.

A system for controlling an ego vehicle following a lead vehicle without vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication includes sensors disposed on the ego vehicle and capturing ego and lead vehicle condition information. Control modules disposed in the ego vehicle each have a processor, memory, and input/output (I/O) ports. The I/O ports communicate with the one or more sensors. The memory stores control logic, and the processor executes the control logic, including a lead vehicle following (LVF) application. A first control logic receives a start input from a vehicle occupant via a human-machine interface (HMI) in communication with the I/O ports. A second control logic performs a feasibility analysis of ego and lead vehicle conditions according to feasibility conditions. A third control logic selectively initiates lead vehicle following. A fourth control logic continuously monitors feasibility of lead vehicle following, and fifth control logic selectively disables the LVF application upon receiving a disengagement command.

Each sub-systems has control modules having processors, memories, and input/output (I/O) ports. The control modules execute program code portions stored in the memory including a program code portions that generates occupant, environmental, time and location, and vehicle contexts, and a combined context by combining the occupant, environmental, location and time, and vehicle contexts. The cloud-based server in communication with a first vehicle and a second vehicle to receive a trip request for the ODA service from the first vehicle, and seek an agreement to establish a virtual link with the first vehicle to the second vehicle by identifying one second vehicle by broadcasting the trip request to the group of second vehicles; identifying a second vehicle from submitted responses based on an application using a modeled clone with a set of functionalities to perform a matching operation between the first and second vehicles; and coordinating responses based on results of the matching operation to confirm an acceptance of the agreement; and creating a trip plan for the trip request for the ODA service based on a set of preferences received from each of the vehicles.

System, and methods for implementing a server architecture for an On-Demand Autonomy (ODA) service

A system is provided for updating vehicle software configurations for multiple vehicles. The system includes a network having multiple ECUs carried by the vehicles, with each ECU having an ECU software configuration including software components with one or more versions. The system further includes a network appliance having a processor communicating with the ECUs and a computer readable medium. The processor is programmed to identify coverage points for software components. The processor is further programmed to collect clusters for validating an update of the associated software components and determine optimal sets of clusters, which is less than or equal to a total of the clusters. The processor is further programmed to rank the clusters of the selected optimal set, based on a vehicle coverage percentage of each cluster, and transmit the optimal set for software configuration validation and then finally transmit the validated update to the associated vehicle ECUs.

A first processor obtains driving information, encodes the driving information and communicates the encoded driving information to the second processor.
