A vehicle network security arrangement for a vehicle, having a network vulnerable to attacks from at least one threat. One or more external devices, being a source of at least one threat, are connectable and communicate with a vehicle network. A cyber security device is connected to the network and receives data being sent to and data transmitted from the network. The cyber security device includes a memory and an anomaly detection system (ADS) that detects the at least one threat in the data being begin sent to the network and the data being sent from the network. A memory of the cyber security device keeps a data log that contains information concerning the at least one threat, which is accessible by a user accessing the memory of the cyber security device.

Arrangement of cyber security and prognostics, coexisting on a single platform

An Intrusion Defense System for protecting the computer systems of a vehicle includes a vehicle having a computer with a direct wired or Radio frequency or other contact-less remote connection diagnosis connection port interface. A hardware device for protecting the computer from hazardous software code intrusions into the computer system. is used to protect the computer from unwanted hacks or intrusions into the system. The hardware device includes at least one or more of: a Diagnostic Port Gateway; a CAN Conditioner; and a CAN Data Security Diode and combinations of these.

Intrusion defense system for a vehicle

An electrically augmented brake control method in which vacuum booster run-out and pedal force are accurately predicted as a function of master cylinder pressure and engine vacuum, thereby eliminating the expense of dedicated sensors for measuring the same. A mathematical model of the vacuum booster is used to estimate the apply chamber pressure and the operator brake pedal force, based on measured values of engine vacuum (or manifold absolute pressure) and master cylinder pressure. The point of vacuum booster runout can be detected as the point at which the estimated apply chamber pressure reaches atmospheric pressure. In a preferred embodiment, a force-balance approach is used to carry out the estimation in an accurate but simple manner that is especially amenable to real-time control in an automotive on-board micro-controller.

Brake control method having booster runout and pedal force estimation

A method and device for brake application provides braking pressure augmentation when preferred. A power booster and master cylinder generate a braking pressure in relation to an operator's input on the brake pedal. An optional brake parameter sensor is used to determine when the power booster reaches a run-out condition. At least one control valve and pump are used to apply braking pressure in response to additional increases in brake pedal application by the operator, after the power booster reaches a run-out condition. The pump and control valve are optionally used to generate braking pressure independent of brake pedal inputs.

Method and device for brake application

An improved method of controlling an electro-hydraulic control system by developing a motor control command in relation to the desired force to be exerted by an electric motor on a mechanical element whose displacement determines the hydraulic pressure. The control command is comprised of two magnitude signals. The first magnitude signal must be sufficient to exert enough force to overcome a static friction characteristic of the mechanical element, and the second magnitude signal is selected to achieve a desired average current or voltage over that control period. The time constant for the control command is less than the mechanical time constant of the system, but greater than the the electrical time constant of the system. The control command may be implemented by using either current or voltage control.

Electro-hydraulic control apparatus for improved hydraulic pressure

In a vehicle anti-lock brake controller, a differential slip between the wheels on each side of an axle is sensed to detect a yaw condition and the wheel with the lower slip value is identified as the high coefficient wheel. In response to a detected yaw condition, the monitored value of slip of the high coefficient wheel is controlled about a target slip value that has an initial value less than the critical slip value at the beginning of antilock controlled braking to minimize longitudinal force imbalance and which is thereafter ramped to the critical slip value to maximize longitudinal braking forces.
