A power system operable to implement a power balancing control scheme is provided. In one aspect, a power system includes multiple independent power supplies with independent batteries feeding onto a common power bus. The power supplies regulate the voltage on the common power bus at the same time. The power balancing control scheme, when implemented, causes the load on the common power bus to be shared among the individual power supplies with a specified load distribution. The specified load distribution can be set or determined to balance the State of Charge (SoC) of the batteries over time whilst taking into account the constraints or limits of the elements of the power system.

Loading sharing across mulitple power supplies

An electric power source includes: a battery defining a state of charge; a converter in electrical communication with the battery; and a controller in operable communication with the converter, the controller including a compensation toggle circuit configured to provide a compensation toggle value based on a power output of the battery; a dynamic droop control circuit configured to receive the compensation toggle value and switch an output droop value of the dynamic droop control circuit from an upper output droop measurement to a lower output droop measurement, wherein the lower output droop measurement is based on the state of charge of the battery.

Battery state of charge compensation

A contactless power transfer system is provided. The contactless power transfer system includes a first power exchanger coil configured to exchange power. The contactless power transfer system also includes a first power converter operatively coupled to the first power exchanger coil and configured to convert a direct current power to an alternating current power at a system frequency. The contactless power transfer system further includes a controller configured to control an operating state of the first power converter to vary an alternating current power provided to the first power exchanger coil at the system frequency.

Contactless power transfer system and method for controlling the same

A wireless power transfer system is disclosed. The wireless power transfer system includes a first converting unit configured to convert a first DC voltage of an input power to a first AC voltage. Further, the wireless power transfer system includes a contactless power transfer unit configured to receive the input power having the first AC voltage from the first converting unit and transmit the input power. Also, the wireless power transfer system includes a second converting unit configured to receive the input power from the contactless power transfer unit and convert the first AC voltage of the input power to a second DC voltage. Furthermore, the wireless power transfer system includes a switching unit configured to decouple the second converting unit from the contactless power transfer unit if the second DC voltage across the electric load is greater than a first threshold value.

System and method for protecting a wireless power transfer system

A wireless power transfer system is disclosed. The wireless power transfer system includes a first converting unit configured to convert a first DC voltage of an input power to a first AC voltage. Further, the wireless power transfer system includes a contactless power transfer unit configured to receive the input power having the first AC voltage from the first converting unit and transmit the input power. Also, the wireless power transfer system includes a second converting unit configured to receive the input power from the contactless power transfer unit and convert the first AC voltage of the input power to a second DC voltage. Furthermore, the wireless power transfer system includes a switching unit configured to regulate the second DC voltage across the electric load if the second DC voltage across the electric load is greater than a voltage reference value.

Method and system for protecting a wireless power transfer system

A power system () operable to implement a power balancing control scheme is provided. In one aspect, a power system () includes multiple independent power supplies (A,B) with independent batteries (A,B) feeding onto a common power bus (). The power supplies (A,B) regulate the voltage on the common power bus () at the same time. The power balancing control scheme, when implemented, causes the load on the common power bus () to be shared among the individual power supplies (A,B) with a specified load distribution. The specified load distribution can be set or determined to balance the State of Charge (SoC) of the batteries (A,B) over time whilst taking into account the constraints or limits of the elements (A,B,A,B) of the power system ().

Loading sharing across multiple power supplies

A charging pad for charging one or more receiver devices is disclosed. The charging pad includes at least one first resonator coil operable at a first frequency band and at least one second resonator coil operable at a second frequency band. Further, the charging pad includes at least one exciter coil magnetically coupled to the at least one first resonator coil and the at least one second resonator coil. In addition, the charging pad includes an excitation unit operationally coupled to the at least one exciter coil and configured to drive the at least one first resonator coil and the at least one second resonator coil via the at least one exciter coil.

System and method for charging receiver devices

A system including a converter is disclosed. The converter includes a first switch having one or more first controllable switches coupled in parallel across at least one diode. A first controlling unit is operatively coupled to the converter. The first controlling unit is configured to determine a temperature of the one or more first controllable switches. The first controlling unit is further configured to compare the determined temperature of the one or more first controllable switches with a transition temperature at which a first power loss of the one or more first controllable switches is equal to a second power loss of the at least one diode and control a switching state of the one or more first controllable switches based on the comparison of the determined temperature with the transition temperature.

Power conversion system and an associated method thereof

A power distribution system in operative association with a source and a plurality of loads includes a converter, a power distribution unit including a plurality of solid state power controllers and configured to provide power from converter to plurality of loads, and a fault protection unit operatively coupled to converter, power distribution unit, or both. The fault protection unit includes a sensor configured to sense current at output terminal of at least one of power distribution unit and converter and a controller configured to compare sensed current with a corresponding threshold value of current, identify presence of a fault in at least one of plurality of loads, power distribution unit, and converter based on comparison, and activate a desired protection scheme to provide fault ride through during the presence of the fault.
