A combustor for a gas turbine engine has an annular inner liner and an annular outer liner forming a combustion chamber therebetween. A dilution horn pair includes dilution horns that provide a flow of an oxidizer gas into the combustion chamber in a dilution zone. At least one of the dilution horns forming the dilution horn pair is arranged so as to provide a lateral flow component of the flow of oxidizer gas therethrough into the combustion chamber, the lateral flow component having a flow direction extending laterally across and non-orthogonal to an axial flow direction of combustion gases within the combustion chamber.

A premixer for a combustor includes: a centerbody having a hollow interior cavity; a swirler assembly radially outward of the centerbody; a peripheral wall disposed radially outward of the centerbody and the swirler assembly such that a mixing duct is defined between the peripheral wall and the centerbody, downstream from the swirler assembly; an annular splitter radially inward of the swirler assembly and radially outward of the centerbody such that a radial gap is defined between the splitter and an outer surface of the centerbody, wherein the splitter includes a trailing edge which extends axially aft of the swirler assembly; a fuel gallery disposed inside the interior cavity of the centerbody; and at least one fuel injector extending outward from the fuel gallery and passing through an injector port communicating with the outer surface of the splitter.

Premixer for a combustor

A combustor for a gas turbine engine, the gas turbine engine defining a longitudinal centerline extending in a longitudinal direction, a radial direction extending orthogonally outward from the longitudinal centerline, and a circumferential direction extending concentrically around the longitudinal centerline, the combustor including: a forward liner segment; an aft liner segment disposed downstream from the forward liner segment relative to a direction of flow through the combustor, the forward and aft liner segments at least partially defining a combustion chamber; and a fence disposed between the forward and aft liner segments, wherein the fence extends in the circumferential direction, and wherein the fence extends into the combustion chamber along the radial direction.

Combustor for a gas turbine engine

An engine can utilize a combustor to combust fuel to drive the engine. A fuel nozzle assembly can supply fuel to the combustor for combustion or ignition of the fuel. The fuel nozzle assembly can include a swirler and a fuel nozzle to supply a mixture of fuel and air for combustion, which can supply a primary fuel supply and a secondary fuel supply. Increasing efficiency and reducing emission require the use of alternative fuels, which combust at higher temperatures or burn at faster burn speeds than traditional fuels, requiring improved fuel introduction without the occurrence of flame holding or flashback.

A main mixer for an engine. The main mixer includes a plurality of mixer vanes located circumferentially around a mixer body. Each mixer vane includes a waveform profile. The waveform profile detaches or trips a boundary layer of an air flow across the mixer vane such that the waveform profile introduces turbulence into the air flow.

A combustor having a main chamber and a trapped vortex cavity. The main chamber includes an outer liner and an inner liner. The trapped vortex cavity extends from at least one of the outer liner or the inner liner. A plurality of mixing assemblies operably injects a fuel-air mixture into the trapped vortex cavity to produce combustion gases. The trapped vortex cavity injects the combustion gases into the main chamber. A steam system is in fluid communication with the main chamber. The steam system operably injecting steam into the main chamber such that the steam flows downstream of the trapped vortex cavity.

A combustor for a gas turbine engine. The combustor having a dome wall, a set of fuel cups, an inner liner, an outer liner, and a set of dilution passages. The dome wall, the inner liner, and the outer liner, together, at least partially defining a combustion chamber. The set of dilution passages terminating in a plurality of dilution holes arranged in a dilution hole arrangement provided in at least one of the inner liner or the outer liner. The dilution hole arrangement having at least a first subset of dilution holes arranged along a first leg and a second subset of dilution holes arranged along a second leg.

In one aspect, a combustor for a turbomachine engine includes a combustion chamber and a component in operable flow with the combustion chamber. The component has a porous structure that defines multiple channels, that are adapted to configure the component as a damper to reduce combustion dynamics of the combustor. In another aspect, a combustor of a turbomachine engine includes a diffuser, a combustor component positioned aft of the diffuser to receive cooling air therefrom, and a support structure in operable flow with the diffuser and the combustor component and positioned therebetween. The support structure has a porous structure that defines multiple channels, which are adapted to improve a backflow margin of the cooling air by reducing turbulence of the cooling air.

A deflector assembly for a combustor defining an operational fluid flow. The deflector assembly includes an upstream surface and a downstream surface opposite the upstream surface. One or more fastening mechanisms each extends through the deflector assembly. One or more cooling holes extend through the deflector assembly from the upstream surface to the downstream surface. The one or more cooling holes are located about the one or more fastening mechanisms to operably direct cooling air about the one or more fastening mechanisms at the downstream surface.

Combustor deflector assembly

A gas turbine engine includes a steam generating system, and a combustion section having a first combustor and a second combustor in fluid communication with a secondary combustion zone of the first combustor. The second combustor is operable to receive compressor bleed air and fuel, along with steam from the steam generating system. During a non-idle operating state and a power-augmentation operating state, when the steam system is operable, steam is provided to the second combustor and then to the secondary combustion zone of the first combustor. When the steam generating system is inoperable, the fuel and bleed air are provided to the second combustor and combusted, and combustion products are provided to the first combustor. When the steam generating system is partially operable, the steam, the bleed air, and the fuel are provided to the second combustor, and combustion products are provided to the first combustor.

An annular dome assembly for a combustor. The annular dome assembly includes an annular dome including one or more dome panels defining the annular dome. A first dome panel includes a dome upstream surface and a dome downstream surface opposite the dome upstream surface. One or more dome arms extend from the dome upstream surface. One or more apertures extend from the dome upstream surface to the dome downstream surface. The annular dome assembly also includes a deflector assembly including one or more deflector panels defining the deflector assembly. A first deflector panel includes a deflector upstream surface and a deflector downstream surface opposite the deflector upstream surface. One or more deflector arms extend from the deflector upstream surface. Each of the one or more deflector arms are mounted within a respective aperture of the annular dome.

A turbine engine includes a compressor section for providing a compressed air flow, a fuel system for providing a primary combustor fuel supply, and a secondary combustor fuel supply. A primary combustor, located downstream of the compressor section, combusts the compressed air flow and the primary combustor fuel supply to generate primary combustion products. A turbine section, located downstream of the primary combustor, includes a turbine and a secondary combustor that further combusts the primary combustion products and the fuel from the secondary combustor fuel supply. A steam system provides a steam supply to the secondary combustor. The secondary combustor further combusts the primary combustion products and the secondary combustor fuel supply to generate secondary combustion products, and the turbine section is rotated by the secondary combustor steam supply and the inter-turbine combustion products.
