A DC-DC converter includes a voltage converting block that converts an input supply voltage to an output voltage and includes a power switch turning on at on-time of a power driving signal, a power driving block that generates the power driving signal using an oscillation output signal, wherein a cycle of the power driving signal varies according to a cycle of the oscillation output signal and a length of the on-time of the power driving signal is fixed to a power time regardless of variation of the cycle of the oscillation output signal, a voltage-controlled oscillating block that generates the oscillation output signal, the cycle of which is controlled according to a level of an oscillation control signal, and a target tracking block that generates a feedback voltage and controls the level of the oscillation control signal such that a feedback voltage follows a target reference voltage.

DC-DC converter using a power driving signal with fixed on-time

A DC-to-DC voltage converter using switching frequency detection is provided. The DC-to-DC voltage converter includes a voltage conversion block including a power switch configured to be turned on in response to a power driving signal and to provide an input supply voltage to be output as the converted output voltage when the power switch is turned on, wherein the converted output voltage has a level that varies depending on a duty cycle of the power driving signal, and a switching control block that receives the converted output voltage and a feedback signal to control the duty cycle of the power driving signal based on a frequency of a feedback signal, the feedback signal having the same period as the power driving signal. Accordingly, when the level of the input supply voltage is changed, the converted output voltage can be recovered to the target level while the switching frequency of the power driving signal is maintained at the same value as before the change of the level of the input supply voltage. Electronic devices adopting the DC-to-DC voltage converter can be strong against an electromagnetic interference phenomenon and have improved performance in a low frequency band.

DC-to-DC voltage converter using switching frequency detection

Systems and methods of driving multiple outputs are provided in which a single inductor may be used to drive multiple output such as independent strings of LEDs or white LEDs (WLEDs). In an example embodiment, a boost DC to DC converter may be used with a single inductor to drive multiple outputs. In an example embodiment, the error voltage of each of the multiple outputs is sampled during each cycle of the DC to DC converter and the largest error voltage is determined for that cycle. Power from the DC to DC converter is then supplied to that output during that cycle.
