A method includes receiving, at route recommendation server device, travel data associated with a plurality of mobile devices. The method includes indexing segments of a plurality of routes based on a corresponding number of users of each of the plurality of segments, and receiving a recommendation request from a particular mobile device. The recommendation request includes a starting point and a destination for a trip. The method also includes identifying a plurality of routes between the starting point and the destination based on the travel data, and providing at least one recommendation for a recommended route based on a relative popularity of the recommended route among a number of users that use each of the plurality of routes.

Route recommendations

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium provide to determine whether a user of the user device is being transported by a vehicle; determine whether any of multiple events pertaining to a message application is detected in response to a determination that the user is being transported by the vehicle; obtain input characteristic data attributed to the user in response to a determination that any of the multiple events is detected; determine whether the user is a driver of the vehicle based on the input characteristic data; and block receipt of an inbound message and a creation of an outbound message in response to a determination that the user is the driver of the vehicle.

A user device may determine that an environmental parameter, sensed by the user device, satisfies a condition, and may detect an emergency based on detecting that the environmental parameter satisfies the condition. The user device may output, via the user device, an alarm notification, and may determine whether an input is received by the user device to cancel the alarm notification. The user device may notify an emergency device when the user device determines that input is not received by the user device to cancel the alarm notification.

Automated detection of an emergency by a user device

A network device receives battery status signals for multiple mobile devices and receives a notification of an incoming call from a calling device to a particular mobile device. The network device determines if a battery status, from the battery status signals, is available for the particular mobile device and provides, to the calling device, a challenge to solicit a categorization of the incoming call as important or not important when a battery status is available for the particular mobile device. The network device receives, from the calling device, a response to the challenge, wherein the response includes the categorization of the incoming call. The network device connects the incoming call from the calling device to the particular mobile device when the categorization of the incoming call is important.
