A wireless medical room control arrangement includes a wireless controller having a wireless router. A room identifier and a device identifier are stored in the controller. A communication interface sends commands to and receives commands from the wireless controller. In response to commands from the interface, the wireless controller sends wireless control signals to operate medical devices in the room. A room monitor adjacent a doorway provides room identifiers to medical devices and wireless controllers entering the room and provides dummy identifiers to medical devices and controllers exiting the room. The room monitors may connect to a global network processor that determines the location of the medical devices in a medical facility.

Wireless medical room control arrangement for control of a plurality of medical devices

A method for wirelessly controlling a portable medical system located in a medical room, includes automatically determining that the portable medical system is located in the medical room via a wireless controller and a room identifier identifying the medical room and a system identifier stored in the wireless controller and the portable medical system; and sending wireless commands from the wireless controller to the portable medical system to operate the portable medical system.

An image capture device in an endoscopic imaging system receives a video stream generated by an endoscopic video camera. In response to automatic recognition of a spoken utterance while the video stream is being received from the endoscopic video camera, the image capture device associates with the video stream an annotation that corresponds to the spoken utterance. The image capture device provides the video stream to a display device for display, such that the annotation can be overlaid on one or more frames of the video stream displayed on the display device.
