A vehicle that includes a vehicle frame, a wheel attached to the vehicle frame, and a wheel deflector assembly attached to the vehicle frame. The wheel deflector assembly includes a deflector plate that extends angularly outward from the vehicle frame, and the wheel deflector assembly is configured, in the event of an offset frontal impact to the vehicle that forces the wheel in a direction toward the frame, to be struck by the wheel and deflect the wheel in a direction away from the frame to prevent the wheel from travelling beneath the vehicle frame.

A high voltage battery case assembly for a vehicle includes a battery case having a plurality of walls at least partially defining a cavity configured to receive one or more high voltage battery modules, a sacrificial pocket formed on an exterior of the battery case and including a thin-walled section, and an attachment bracket configured to couple between the sacrificial pocket and a body of the vehicle. The thin-walled section is configured to intentionally break away from the sacrificial pocket when the attachment bracket receives an impact load of a predetermined energy level to thereby facilitate protecting the high voltage battery case assembly from the impact load.

In at least some implementations, a powertrain assembly, includes a combustion engine arranged to propel a vehicle, an electric motor arranged to propel a vehicle, a transmission coupled to the combustion engine and having a transmission housing and an output, an exhaust assembly coupled to the combustion engine, a drivetrain component driven for rotation by the output, multiple wires connected to the electric motor, and a housing. The housing has a first housing part and a second housing part that are coupled together to define an interior between them. At least one of the first housing part and the second housing part is coupled to the transmission housing, the wires are received within the interior and the housing is received between the transmission housing and both a portion of the exhaust assembly and a portion of the drivetrain component.
